Hello, is now working solution for run dell mxm card in laptop clevo p150em? I have this notebook with dead mxm card. Now have card from dell. Card is stay hd7970m. Card is with dell vbios.. classic problem is blinking diodes and max. rpm on fan... and after turn off... I resolder eeprom from old card to dell card. Vbios is now for clevo p150em and problem is still the same. Is solution for this type card or i have to buy card only for clevo?? If buy mxm nvidia card for dell.. works this card in clevo laptops without problem? I see gtx965m for dell. Cards for clevo cant find.. thank you for reply and solution. Thank you..

    No

Temp sensor reading in the motherboard firmware is not provided by Dell boards on a hardware level. As you found, GPU board firmware is not a solution

No temp reading => motherboard EC interprets as card failure => preventative forced shutdown

I know this, but I thought if there was any solution in the six years that this notebook came to market. Eg bios mod or vbios mod or hardware mod on mxm card ... Stay is any solution. I have a question. nvidia dell cards work normally in clevo lapto. i want to buy gtx965m. Thank you for reply.

Interest in getting the older cards has certainly waned. Generally people are trying to get cards like the 1060 working (which they have).

I want to remember the games I once played. the last time I played seven to eight years ago. gtx1060m is a nice card but its price is high. I do not want to spend too much money. I just need gtx965m or hd7970m / 8980 / m290x

No bios flashing will get the system to read the temp sensor on the card. Don't waste your time.

I tried altering the pull up resistors on the motherboard for temp reading to be more standard, but that failed to read the Dell AMD card I tried (an old 5870m).

The Dell 965m should be fine though. Beware that you will need to do a .inf mod, and optimus support in win10 is pretty shoddy. Run win7 if you can.

To nixliu: 4gb have gtx965m... i send Hd7970m back. This card not work in clevo. I test with few vbios and no solution for clevo.

To Khenglish: thank you for reply. I buy gtx965m. I have win7. On win7 works without problem? On eurocom site have drivers for this laptop and gpu.

I'm not sure how well the stock system BIOS for the P150em can handle the 965m. I remember that in the past people running stock P150em BIOS had problems running drivers newer than the 358 series on 970m and 980m cards. I do not know if that still affects the latest drivers, or if you have access to the Prema v3 BIOS.

Worst case scenario though is you can just run an old driver.

Eurocom renamed the driver so I can't tell what version it is. If it's the wrong driver though you can get an old 358 series driver from guru3d.com. They keep all the old drivers around.
