Not bad for a system that ships with the HD4570 FFS!

Wait a second the 7970m works in it? Does it windows boot, full functionalities, etc.?
Oh wow. -
Does that mean you can flash it also?
Maybe unlock OverDrive?
But the question is, is the Acer Muxless like the P150EM is? If not, then I'm not impressed. -

5935g is manual switching while in windows. Flashed 1.1v bios.not a clue about windows lol. Just got in and out. I have a couple of pics to share later.
-
Changed its vBios in the Asus and swapped it back to the Clevo? Hoping you share some awesome benchmarks

You can see the card tried to creep out of its socket in this pic, but it stayed in with a little adjustment. Also before turning on I put a bit of insulating tape on the ram socket where it touches. -
Very cool!
-
Amazing work there meaker
-
My friend have a 5950G in use, shame it's not MXM populated or i could give it a go
So hows your work with the vBIOS? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Got it to 1.1v core voltage.
-
-
lol meaker that is SO ghetto!
but apparently it works haha! +rep for that
keep us updated on benchmark/OC results with the 1.1v bios
btw, how did u change the voltage? so far ive only seen dell vbioses with modded voltages.

Svl7 modded it for me. Can bech at 1065/1415 so far.
-
nice
did u also use the acer in order to dump the vbios in the first place?
-
Thats my concern too, since my G73JH doesn't like the 7970M much and i have no other platform available to try with. -

Yes, dumped and writen in the acer, you can see from my first pic. 150em can neither read nor write. You can find the original uploaded on the clevo support thread at techinferno if you like.
-
first have to figure out how to dump the modded clevo vbios for the hm machines once i get my 7970m and then see what exactly they changed in order to make it work... well heres to hoping that the HM can maybe read and write the bios

From what I understand they stopped it checking for enduro at boot .
-
yep thats what i remember them mentioning as well. it was checking for the presence of an igp in the system. if it didnt find one it would just shut down.
what i also think is dumb is the fact that the EM series apparently cant run on the IGP alone.whats the point of that?

Is it possible that you could upload your working Vbios, and if, have you got one which undervolts the gpu?
Thank you in forehand!
Sincerely
Tind -
I read the whole thread and understood nothing.
Why did you have to put a 7970m in an Acer? To mod its vbios? -
thing is, u cannot dump or flash the vBIOS in an EM machine because no program or tool would recognize the 7970M gpu and its vBIOS. sooo he plugged the card into his ghetto acer, where he could dump the vBIOS, modify it to his likings and flash it again to the 7970M. he then swapped it into the EM machine and voila: tuned gpu
pretty ingenious if u ask me hahaha -
AHA! Now I understand. So enduro and the clevo bios make a good team in preventing detection of the 7970m and its vbios. I wonder why they made the effort in trying to keep us from modding it.

I think it might be accidental, the 680M flashes perfectly well in the EM. ATIFLASH may need an update.
12.6 I can hit 1060mhz stable, 12.7 1030mhz stable.
The stock bios is attached to this post:

um wait, now u got both a 7970M and a 680M?? lol ure really something
-
And now you have a 680M...... -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
I'll sell one or the other after doing a comparison of both.
But hey if that's how people are going to be maybe I should not bother posting all the data I get. -
nah, keep up the good work buddy, its much appreciated
and seeing all the flaming going around here about the topic 7970M vs. 680M thats probably the best thing to do@testing both cards for urself
let us know what u decide and why. im sure a personal hands-on review of both cards in the same system by a trustworthy NBR member would surely help a lot of people here to make their decision
cheers -
Yeah keep up the good work. So far Your the only one I have seen that has actually had both cards, and you testing them on the same system is much more trustworthy to me than anything else I have seen. Thanks man!!!

Well I should get the 680M tomorrow =)

Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Which one?
-
If you've got several, I would gladly appreciate having them.
P150EM can't read the 7970M bios.... But the Acer 5935G can!
