    Hello,

I recently received my P150EM from Mythlogic. It works great except for the display issue.

    Problem:

Bright colors like red, orange, yellow..etc are too strong, too saturated and very high in contrast. I tested this by watching several movies, YouTube videos and playing games.

Also, the screen has a permanent brownish tint. I can easily identify this when i open windows explorer which has white background.

I compared the display with my Dell laptop which also has a matte screen and is surprisingly brighter for a cheap laptop. The colors appear normal and natural on the Dell.

    Possible reasons:

Myth did a free color calibration on my laptop. I just called them. Eric from customer care says that the calibration might have changed in transit due to weather. :) he says they had similar cases in the past.

Anyway, This might be due to a botched screen calibration or transit defect like Eric said

How to identify and send pictures/photos/screenshots ?

Myth asked me to send pictures instead of screenshots to identify and resolve this issue. I think sending screenshots wont work because it will display differently in other laptops. Would photos work?

I will also try to attach photos in this post after i get some suggestions from you guys.

    Half-Assed resolution :D:

Apparently, this can be fixed by going to screen resolution>advanced>color management> and change color profile to windows default? i am not sure.

Also, by doing this, will i lose all the advantages of having a 95% gamut screen?

    Pictures:

I will post pictures after i get some suggestions on how to capture the images from you guys.

    .....Thanks

You don't need to have a screen calibrated to get the benefits of 95% NTSC

It may be better but you can still tell.

My W110ER's screen doesn't have ANYTHING on my 8130's screen

You're exactly right why they're asking for pictures instead of screen shots. It's the monitor itself that is displaying the off colors. It's very well possible that the screen changed in transit and the calibration was no longer exactly right. Some screens also just don't take well to the calibration, there were a few in the past that would always come out with a green tint when the calibration was done that we had to contact the customer on and notify before shipping out.

Changing the calibration profile won't "fix" the problem, but rather get rid of the calibration and revert back to the windows default. You also lose the calibration you paid for as well (I guess in your case free). But yeah, post some pics for us to see.

There are some free quick calibrators you can use and calibrate by eye yourself.

Selecting Windows Default in the menu you mentioned earlier will do the trick.

thanks Derek, i will first take some photos and then try to disable to calibration.

i have a doubt, when i select a profile from the drop down box, there is no 'OK' or 'Apply' button. will that take effect as soon as i select it? (i am actually testing this on my office computer :))

I am at work right now. i will update this post as soon as i go home. :)

I fixed this issue. I just unchecked the Myth calibration option in color management and..boom, everything looks a lot better now. that brownish tint is gone.

i was not able to capture proper pics using the camera, they are not very clear. it is no use posting those pics here as you will not be able to tell the difference.

    Thanks everyone!
