Hey guys, I've noticed a slight issue over the last few days whereby my gpu on my laptop kicks in on startup and stays on for about a minute until it blue screens and I have to restart, this doesn't happen every time, it happens maybe once every 3 or 4 times I start the machine but I use it pretty much every day so it's a tad annoying however I'm more worried of it being a more serious issue like the gpu failing, this has only started happening the last few days and there doesn't seem to be any other issues I've seen (it still plays games fine) anyone had these issues before on this machine or have any idea what could be causing it? I have a 7970m btw

Well have you tried re-installing the drivers?

as Meaker said it could well be the drivers.

run this and post the dump reports on here Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer

also do you mean its your dedicated gpu loading and then blue screening or your intel HD4000

when was the last time you cleaned the vents and fans out with compressed air. also what sort of temperature readings are you getting. lots of monitoring software in my sig below.

It's my dedicated, just ran that tool and it seems to be an AMD driver issue so I'll go ahead and reinstall that, strange as I've been using my current driver for months without any issues, thanks for help anyway

hope it sorts the problem out.
never heard of a dedicated card kicking in from bootup. unless the intel 4000 needs a driver update as well.
also have you checked in the ati control panel its not set to use the dedicated at all times. just a guess as i know nothing about ati.
    good luck

I reinstalled my Intel and AMD graphic drivers just to be on the safe side, I don't think it's a control panel issue as with enduro it's pretty much impossible for the gpu to be on just on the desktop, you need a program to be running and I had nothing running when it crashed. Like you say it's a strange issue, I overvolted my gpu last week but I only kept it on for a day to run some benchmarks then I flashed back to my stock vbios again, that's why I was a bit worried the card might be on its way out but hopefully the driver reinstall has sorted it now

Did you make sure the voltages had changed back and you did use the stock image?

Did you install the factory drivers first and then the latest over the top.

loading drivers have to be done in a certain order or they can cause problems.
this is the order to follow.

I have the same issue with you (AMD GPU kicking in after booting to windows) but without the bluescreen or crash.
I'm using AMD Catalyst 14.4(14.200.0.0) Mobility SG. modded Driver (Enduro/PowerXpress Fix) by LeeKM and I thought it was normal. LOL.
It was strange because desktop would not make the AMD GPU active.

Would reinstall both graphic drivers when I get my laptop later.
    Thanks mate!
