P150EM repair battery socket tabs?

I just bought a P150EM that is working just fine however both of the tab sockets on the case which the battery lock into have been broken off so there is noting for the pins on the battery to lock into.

Aside from just replacing the entire lower case or duct taping the battery in, has anyone come up with a reliable fix for this problem?

 

Well unless you have the pieces to glue back on or suitable ones to replace them?

 

No, the pieces were gone before I ever owned it.

 

The solution would need to be improvised then.

So.. I went ahead and cut some small overlays for the tops of the broken sockets on the laptop out of some copper shim material I had lying around, drilled a couple of small holes into the overlays and the unbroken areas of the sockets, screwed them in and ...



It works!

The old (worn out) battery is held in nice and tight.

Basically, I didn't want to spend $60 on a new battery for this thing unless I would be able to lock it into the case securely because if I tried tape or some other quick fix it was pretty much guaranteed to fall out and end up damaged at some point.

And buying a replacement lower case and transferring literally everything over to it was just too much trouble for a cheap "project" laptop.
