    Hi,

I read somewhere that it's possible to swap the FN key with the windows key.

Do I just need to update to a newer bios or something else? And what's the safest way to pry out the keys?

    Thanks in advance

Updating to the latest EC & BIOS will get your keys swapped. EC Version: 1.02.11 does the job.

The safest way to pry out the keys is to pull from any of the top corners.

Here is a pic of the keys mechanism:

looks like it is correct, but I don't know with certainty if the key swap is builder specific. The Sager BIOS does the change, I don't know about others.

Prying and swapping the keys does not swap the functionality that corresponds to them. You can find free remapping utilities that might work for you, but I haven't tried it on any Clevo/Sager systems personally.

    Thanks for the replies.

I don't think the FN key is remap-able. But I just installed the latest PREMA bios and it stated that it can detect whether you have a win 7(old) or win 8(new) keyboard. And the FN and Win key will be switched according to which keyboard you have.
Too bad I have the old Win 7 keyboard. I asked on the their forums if it is possible to manually switch the keys. Hopefully they have an answer.

I think the mapping is hard coded into the keyboard firmware, so I kind of doubted there were any utilities that would work (like I said, though: I have not tested them).

    Good luck!

So I just got a reply back from Prema. And he was kind enough to post a special key swap version.
I can't download it yet. I don't have the privilege yet because I need to make 5 post first before I can download attachments. If someone can download it an post it here that would be great.

My 5 posts are pending now it has to be confirmed by the moderators first..

Doesn't take long for verification, so if someone doesn't get to uploading it for you, you shouldn't have much downtime before you're able to download it. :)

I would like to see one of these applications work. For said reasons, it may not, but it would be a great, simple workaround if it did.

This has the same issue all key remappers seem to have - it cannot detect the Fn key and doesn't seem to allow selecting it as an option.

    Thanks, though :)

I have BIOS version 1.02.17LS1 and KBC/EC revision 1.02.10 on my NP9150. When I updated to them it remapped my Windows key (left of the space bar) to the FN key, and FN key (right of the space bar) to the Windows key. (For me this was the opposite of what I want the mapping to be - it was right before the flash. I want to keep the Windows key (with the Windows 8 symbol mapped to the left of the space bar) If this is what you want it to do (remap the Windows key to the right side of your keyboard) send me a PM with your email address, and then I can upload it to https://www.wetransfer.com/# for you. I should have a file shortly that will re-map mine back to the left side again, so if you want that instead I should be able to provide that file at a later date.

Hey guys so I am looking into this and have a couple questions.

I am still on the original BIOS and have not done anything with it since I got my laptop. I've done a BIOS upgrade before but that was with an HP desktop. First, what is the newest BIOS for the Sager NP9150 and what are the things that need to be updated besides the BIOS? I don't know what the EC is and didn't know that is upgraded separately. Also, is Prema's mod file all I need or do I need to contact Sager for newer files to use with it?
