    Hey everyone,

I understand drivers are a bit of a mess for 7970M right now, but maybe someone else has experienced the same issue as me. I've tried several versions of the 7970M drivers (Clevo stock, 12.6, 12.7 beta etc) and clean uninstalls with driver sweeper in between but here's what seems to always happen:

Everything works fine for a few days but then all of a sudden the switchable graphics option from CCC disappears and I can't seem to save any application profiles anymore. The ones I'd already saved disappear too. I'm currently on the 12.7 beta.

Other than that game performance seems pretty fine overall for me and I'm not having any stability issues or crashes. A few notable exceptions are Deus Ex where there's horrible screen tearing with Vsync off and horrible stuttering with Vsync on. I also had some minor stuttering in Skyrim (I thought 12.7 was supposed to fix that?). I'm going to try Max Payne 3 later today.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Never use driver sweeper with switchable setups (In fact never use it, it causes as many issues as drivers themselves), always install the clevo drivers first an then install any drivers on top.

Also i think you should always use the stock CCC drivers and only update to the 12.6 and 12.7 display drivers, not the whole package, because switchable graphics are broken in the driver updates for CCC.
At least thats what i heard.

Thanks for the replies. Do you mean I should choose a custom installation and just choose the Display driver from the options, or update it manually through device manager?

choose custom installation and uncheck everything you can leaving the display driver

    Thanks again for the replies.

I ended up re-installing Windows because of the driver mess up and following the procedure you mentioned. Everything seems to work fine for now except Max Payne 3: Whenever I assign it to High Performance it simply doesn't save the setting and always tries to play it on the iGPU.

This switchable graphics business is annoying. I contacted my manufacturer and apparently there's no way to switch off the iGPU and just run on the AMD card which makes things even worse. D:

Any clues on this would be again appreciated. :)

you must make sure you have your power options set to high performance and hit fn-esc to set power conservation to performance

Just install as normal. The switchable is included in all the CCC. These drivers work for switchable that have AMD+AMD systems, so yes it's included. What it doesn't include are the horrible Intel drivers for the ridiculously dumb Intel Muxless GPU setup, meaning the LCD panel is only connected to the iGPU.

I've seen a lot of people having issues with MP3 recently. Might have to wait for a driver update.

Just to be certain, is there more than one .exe for MP3? Sometimes you have a launcher .exe and then a game .exe and CCC only picks up the launcher.

I just realised it isn't Max Payne 3 it isn't saving. It stopped saving anything. So my CCC is broken again, *sigh*.

I don't get how it works fine and all of a sudden it just breaks.

Yeah I tried both, but as I said above after I ran Max Payne 3 for the first time CCC can't change the settings of applications for switchable graphics anymore.

It was stock + 12.7 display driver as instructed in the previous posts.

I tried an express uninstall of AMD and re-install and now I'm getting BSODs. Looks like another Windows re-install...

After another fresh install of Windows and installation of the stock drivers it happened again and CCC broke. I believe it happens when I do the following: When I run a game that has a launcher apart from the game executable itself (Max Payne 3, Skyrim) for the first time, when I exit the game I get two pop-up windows asking to configure the graphics for these two applications (launcher and game). I believe CCC breaks if I click "configure" for both in the pop-up windows before changing anything in the CCC. Either that or my CCC breaks randomly when I run a game. *shrug*

Regardless, a custom uninstall of just the CCC followed by registry cleans and removal of any AppData and a re-install of the CCC from Stock drivers seem to have fixed the problem for now. The solution would then be to ignore the pop-up windows asking to configure switchable graphics and do it all manually.

I'll report here again if CCC breaks despite that.

Not true, switchable isn't included in newest.
Have the exact same problem as this guy, AMD!
