    This is dumb dumb dumb.

Got the P150EM, flashed Prema bios and the vbios on 970m, installed a driver without a problem with modded .inf in windows 7 home. Ran firestrike, overclocked a little for the fun of it, ran firestrike again, everything is stable and works fine. (have screen shots if wanted)

Being a bit lazy I take my P150HM Evo 850 SSD with Windows 10 Pro, uninstall basically every driver, including chipset, pop it in my P150EM, works fine, reinstall chipset and basic drivers, all works fine.

Now the problem. For the life of me I cannot get the 970m driver to work.

    Before people ask:
    - Yes I disabled the signature thing
    - Yes I modded the .inf
    - Yes I unistalled using DDU in safe mode, then installed intel driver first then nvidia.

    Some info:
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_51051558

    New ID for .inf
    %NVIDIA_DEV.13D8.5105.1558% = Section???, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_13D8&SUBSYS_51051558

    GPU string:
    NVIDIA_DEV.13D8.5105.1558 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970m"

I have tried modding the nvcvi.inf file as well as nv_dispi.inf file.

I cannot for the life of me figure out which section number to use. I have tried, 002, 009, 027, 028, 030, 034. I have tried with driver versions 359.06, 359.00, 358.91

I have used Laptop2go modded .inf for 358.91 instead of my own but the results are always the same.

Results are always, start the install, no error for no supported hardware - so seems like .inf mod works fine, I always do custom install and uncheck 3D vision driver for example. Click next the install starts and after a few seconds when it tries to install the screen shows that driver install failed.

    So what gives?????

I feel like its probably something small and dumb but I can't figure it out!! Spent the last three hours on it.

    Thanks for the help!

Try an older driver or check for updates on the Prema bios/vbios, there are some compatibility issues with the latest drivers and older BIOS versions,.

Thanks for the reply, I flashed the vbios and bios just yesterday strait from prema's site, so it should be the most up to date. The windows 7 testing was also done yesterday. I have a three day weekend so i was hoping to get this done.

I know there is a v3 bios out there but those are only for those who buy from vendors like eurocom

I think it is that V3 that was created for this issue.

    Wierd.

I thought the v2 bios worked up till 359 and from the 360 on drivers the v3 bios would be needed.

Also does that mean that the v3 bios is only a win 10 issue since I had 358 working with win7, but not anymore with win10?

You will have to check with Prema for the exact details. It's not a setup I have personally run.

Well I got past my driver install problem with the magical 355.98 driver. No modded .inf or anything it just installs.

GPU clock is only 540 for some reason, but I can "overclock" to stock core clock anyways.

Now the problem is that its only running off the IGPU and not the DGPU!!

    Goodness...

    Still super stuck.

Magic driver 355.98 works with a unmodded .inf, once i put in the Laptop2go modded .inf it doesn't work.

So whats the point if I can install the driver (355.98) but it won't use the 970m. (Yes I also went to nvidia control panel for 3D settings and set it global and program for the nvidia gpu)

Seems like this person had also the exact same problem.

    https://communities.intel.com/thread/86757?start=0&tstart=0

    no answer it seems either.

I even tried Eurocom driver specifically for the P150EM and 9xxM and Windows 10 64bit. (custom 358.50 driver)

Same result as the modded .inf - Graphics Driver fails to install.

    ........

    This Sucks!!!

Gave Prema a PM, but I am sure he gets tons of PM's from people asking about anything that comes to mind so I am not holding my breath. Besides its kind of frustrating that I can't figure this out myself.

For the record to make sure everyone understands.

I am using v2 of premamod vbios
    Also newest v2 premamod bios
    Newest intel igpu driver

I have attached pictures of the
    -Device ID
    -970m pre any driver install
    -970m 355.98 driver install
    -Intel IGPU

When I try any modded .inf drivers it always fails to install and then the display driver disappears from the Device manager tab for display, it only shows IGPU. No matter if its a self modded .inf or Laptop2go .inf or Eurocom driver with their own .inf.

Try to update your Intel GPU driver manually to the latest version from the Intel server...also install the latest chipset driver.

But probably Windows didn't like being pulled from a (non-Optimus, Sandy Bridge) HM system and then used in an EM (Optimus Ivy Bridge)...so you may not get around a fresh Windows installation.

    Thanks prema.

Did the manual intel driver already, downloaded it, safe mode, DDU then reinstall. Didn't help.

As for fresh windows install, it seems like I can't get around it, so that is what I am going to try now.

Reinstalled - used Win7, works fine 362.00 drivers . I don't have the time to get Win10 installed, so until I get force upgraded to Win10 again I will keep Win7.

So in conclusion no real solution other then using different OS.

If you are a Eurocom customer, then just install the v3 BIOS for P'n'P support and be done with it...

If I was that would be nice! But they are just being friendly since I am not =)

Otherwise I would love the v3 bios! Hahaha. Thanks again though.

Its okay for now, Win7 works fine by me. Besides nvidia is better at DX11 anyways and games will still probably support it for a while.

When I do go Win10 I will update for sure.

    Hi Guys,

I think i am having a quite similar problem with my Clevo 170HM and GTX680M vs. Windows 10.
My system works prefect under Win 7 with modded inf files, but after i did the same inf edit procedure under Windows 10 Nvidia won't complete the installation.
Hardware detection seems okay, but quits when you can see the progress bar, saying "Nvidia installer failed" .
I didn't do any crazy BIOS updates or change, because don't want to mess up my working system, but have tried a few different Win 10 drivers, but none of them worked.

If anyone has a solution, please let us know! :)
    Thanks!

You're not in a hurry! As long as DX12 isn't established, Win10 is a Piece of crap full of Spyware! You have to cripple it down to avoid being spied. So much hazzle to get it working as intended. Just be happy with your new beast and call it a day! :)

Try disabling the Driver signature under Win10 and you should be fine afterwards.

How can I install drivers that are not digitally signed?

Windows 10 enforces driver signatures by default. This can be disabled to install drivers that are not digitally signed. Use the following steps to disable driver signature enforcement.
    1. Click the Start [IMG] menu and select Settings.
    2. Click Update and Security.
    3. Click on Recovery.
    4. Click Restart now under Advanced Startup.
    5. Click Troubleshoot.
    6. Click Advanced options.
    7. Click Startup Settings.
    8. Click on Restart.
    9. On the Startup Settings screen press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement.
Your computer will restart and you will be able to install non-digitally signed drivers. If you restart your computer again the driver signature enforcement will be re-enabled.

Sorry but what's wrong with Win 10? I wasn't aware of this spyware thing...
I didn't like Win 8/8.1 and tried to resist, but i just wanted to give a try to the new op system. :)

Thanks your tip by the way!

First of all, if you accept their License Terms, you agree that MS has the permission to collect every data created on your rig. From every single key stroke till your browsing behaviour. All in the Name of Big Data (mining). That's why Performance is also slowed down due to the spying Action. Benches are somewhat crippled in comparison with Win7. Besides that it's working fine, once crippled with O&O Shut Up 10. ;)

Quick update. So I am on Win10 again, drivers working well, no problem. I think I may of just done the disabling driver signature wrong initially. Also maybe a clean OS install also helped. No problems now. Decided I might as well deal with Win10 . . .

Thanks to everyone who gave input!

    Hello!

I am thinking on buying two GTX 980M for SLI on my P370EM, and since you did an upgrade somewhat similar, could you point me some directions?
First, I am afraid of any flashing, never done anything like that... Do you know if they can be avoided? Otherwise, are they sure to work if I correctly follow the instructions?
Second, do you got it working fine even with newest windows 10 upgrades? Any problem so far?

Yes it was the driver signature enforcement. Last night, I installed a GTX970M 6G onto my P150EM and was able to install the latest modded driver after disabling it, and now running games smoothly on it. BIOS is Prema v2 and VBIOS is v2.

I was using 13D8.5281.1558's section as I believe that I saw a command line that's relevant to optimus in its section.
