    Hi all,

I just finally got my beloved P150HM. I will certainly write a bit more detail on Malibal and their fantastic customer service. The guys are really great and deserve that!

Now, I have unboxed, updated, etc.

Long story short. Starcraft 2 now lags, i.e. performance lag, not online issues.

I had a crappy E6400 dell before with an onboard graphic and I could play lowest setting everything without ever getting stutters!
Now I tried Ultra setting, so, maybe to high, now high setting, neither, stutters again. Will try low now.

I have a feeling however that this is my beloved windows interfering with something and locking down some performance peaks...
Maybe locking the CPU? I dont know...

    On a different note:
Also, I bought Space Marines (as I like me some Orcs :D) and this is the first time in a long time I bought a PC game (since it had been a while I had a gaming capable PC). Sound and performance stutter, sounds is terribly distorted.

Now, my drivers are up to date I think. Why is that all happening?

    Unhappy :(

what kind of FPS are you talking about here?

are you playing on battery or using the AC adapter?

are you on "High Performance" power plan or something else like "balanced"?

download HWinfo and take a look at your CPU cores what are they at? should be fluctuating around 2500ish. HWinfo will also let you know if your GPU is clocking up. It should be 680/900 when running games like SC2

For comparison, I get a contant 60 FPS on Ultra settings even in multiplayer matches

The performance you get is what I expect as well.

    I am on AC.

I will try again and monitor. I feel this is windows doing some silly stuff in the background... usually is :)

well SC2 is still randomly weird if lots of units are on screen.
Marines for some reason however worked flawless now...

    more testing...
Core are all kicking in and GPU seems normal too so far

My 485m slows down when there's a big fight onscreen (or a mothership cloaking everything).

What your describing sounds normal in my experience. How many units is "lots" roughly? And what are they doing (fighting, cloaking, chrono boosting, sitting around on their backsides etc)

Also make sure if you have the hotkey drivers installed, that you click on it's icon on the quick launch and set it to performance mode as well. You'll have to have that AND the windows options at high performance.

Starcraft may still lag with lots of units on the screen at ultra settings, even with high performance mode- it's just rather intensive. As long as your average gaming experience is pretty decent, then I wouldn't worry if it's just during intense scenes.

Was busy during the day, and will test again in detail tomorrow. It is not ok to have stutters, I am happy to play on lowest settings if needed, though this would be funny, given my old crappy laptop with on-board NEVER stuttered, with lots of units (4player 200 unit max collisions)

    Curious issues.

Will report back. Thanks for all the advice!
