So today I found not just 1 bug but several thousand.
My laptop had become infested with ants - ugh!!

I live in the Philippines where insects can be a real problem. As such I'm very careful about where I keep my computer. It sits on a perfectly clean wooden desk in my office. I never eat any kind of food in there and I'm very careful not to spill or leave any drinks. However, this made no difference.
I later found out that ants are attracted to electrical fields, who knew?

Today I was playing some Terraria when I noticed a couple of ants on my screen. Lifted up my laptop to find a small party going on underneath it.
I slowly took apart my laptop piece by piece. When I lifted out the battery there were so many ants in there that I couldn't even see the black plastic underneath them. I really wish I'd taken some photos.

Anyway, after a thorough cleaning everything seems to be working OK. I don't think they've done any damage. Yet!

    Ants, this means WAR!
I'm gonna nuke 'em from orbit, only way to be sure ;)

LOL, usually when you have thousands of bugs you need to reformat, don't think that will help in this case :(

You know the term "bug", as first applied to computing actually referred to a live moth? :D

Grace Hopper found it in the Mark II back in 1946. It's also where the term debugging came from.

ROFL, that gave me a good heavily light laugh (oxymoron :D) too bad he has several bugs in his machine then...

and btw, it was not G. Hopper that found the bug, rather one (or several?) of the operators ;)

Maybe make a nice trap for them to visit rather than your laptop. An ant hotel where they check in, but never check out.

You are actually lucky DUDE!!! Did you check on your thermal pads?

I got my first Clevo infested by RED-ANTS, all thermal pads taken apart and thousands of the left-over rubber particles spread into every single corner of the Notebook.
In December they did the same thing with my new Clevo. There was not one part left in place both CPU and GPU Thermal Pads completely taken apart and spread all over the chassi.
Took me like 80 Euro for canned air (10 cans) and fresh thermal pads, a vacuum cleaner and a whole day of work to take my baby apart, clean it and put it back together.

I would call this the "Bug-Bug"!
Clevo should maybe make a better choice on thermal pads, cause the "red-ants-army" is seriously after them...

    Actually had that happen once!

Bought a desktop from a garage sale that an old lady had for sale. She didn't know what was wrong with it. Paid $20.

Come to find out that (dead) roaches had a motel going in the PSU!

LOL. threw in an old PSU I had laying around and wahlah - new desktop for my daughter. But, Shhhh don't tell her this story...

Douse your laptop in some Raid to prevent the ants from coming back.
