Hi folks,
I've noticed that my 2720QM Intel i7 is rated to go up to a max turbo boost of 3.3Ghz. Yet under heavy load (Prime 95) it never gets above 2.80Ghz.
I'm assuming that the 3.3Ghz is a 'best case scenario' figure and that the 'turbo boost' overclock depends on other factors such as power requirements, heat etc.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar with their i7s?
Thanks,

This is due to the way Turbo boost is essentially a pre-programmed overclock. The speeds it can reach and time it can remain at those speeds is limited by heat. -
Excellent information. Thanks.

Not to mention windows has a hissy fit in the event manager about the bios limiting the proc speed. Has the time-in-boost setting been applied to other BIOSes or will this be a fresh/first implementation? Thats awesome tho. This is my first clevo and I'm looking forward to all this modded bios business.
