I've been having consistent issues with my laptop's Wifi where I stay connected to my router but my internet times out. The only way to fix it is to disable/re-enable the Wifi and this happens every couple of seconds to minutes, seeming random at best.

The built in wifi card is a Intel Centrino N 6230. I tried a multitude of drivers but the problem spans beyond Windows 7. It also happens when I dual boot into Ubuntu Linux.

I bought a new wireless card to try to fix the problem, an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. While this new card now lets me connect to AC routers, the same exact behavior is still happening. This leads me to believe that it's not a Wifi card issue nor a driver issue.

I found a similar problem where someone posted below

    https://communities.intel.com/thread/25196

The poster in that link claims to have found a BIOS update that fixes this issue, but I'm not able to locate it. Does anyone here have it?

Given that the problem has persisted across two network cards, it makes suspect your other devices. I had issues where my network connection would drop once every hour or so and my modem was faulty. I have the same wifi card (the Intel Centrino N 6230), and haven't had any problems like you describe.

Is this a problem across multiple routers?
Have you rebooted it and your connection to the internet (cable modem, etc)?
Do you have other devices on this router/connection?

Yes, the problem persists amongst multiple routers (At least 3 home networks and 1 business class network).

Rebooting does not solve the issue. There are multiple devices on the multiple networks that don't drop their connections. I have a windows tablet next to me and it has a 100% uptime.

I've gotten into the (bad) habit of running 'ping -t 192.168.0.1' just to monitor when my connection drops, because even though it detects that i'm connected to a router the pings will also fail along with the internet connection.

Those are Sagers versions of the EC and BIOS and since you still have the problem, give it a shot and use the stock versions.

I used Rufus to create a bootable USB with FreeDOS and it looks like both EC and BIOS flashed successfully. I'm going to give it some time to see if the problem pops back up again. Thanks for providing me the latest BIOS!
