    Hi!

First time poster but long time reader. I have a p150hm that recently had it's 6990m fail, so I took the opportunity to upgrade to a 680m, which is an amazing card. Temps still hit 90 degrees during heavy gaming though, and although I'm going to re-paste, I'd love to be able to setup a more aggressive fan profile (without having to resort to fn+1). Unfortunately, no software I've found can adjust (or even monitor) the fan. I've tried Afterburner, HWInfo and Precision, but obviously there is something going on, because they won't even recognise the fan at all. I spoke to my supplier, and their response is that the fan profile can only be setup using the EC Firmware. Is this true? Thanks for any help!

No fan support. Sorry. You really need to repaste and figure out what the hell is going on.

You shouldn't hit such high temps, AT ALL, not with the 680M..

    Thanks,

I asked them what paste they used and they weren't sure (not a great sign!). I'm getting the IC Diamond on its way now. I'm still idling at 40 degrees, which seems pretty normal, but I'm hoping that the IC Diamond will help get max temps down a bit. FN+1 can get it down to around the 80 degree mark, but it does sound like a jet is taking off!

strange as Fn & 1 does nothing for me.
40c idle is perfect. i think the highest ive got to after a game is roughly 75c but ive only had it since friday and only played mw3 and crysis 2.
will load battlefield 3 to give it a good run for its money soon.

They disable the manual "MAXIMUM POWER TO COOLING!!!" button on the EM series while HM series gets to keep this awesome emergency feature :D

You need to flash Sager/Eurocom EC to have Fn+1 function.

Yeah, 680m shouldn't exceed 80C for gaming. Make sure you do a good job of cleaning the thermal paste when you get your IC Diamond, and make sure you apply it properly.

What paste are you using? I am using IC7 and my temps max around 80-82C when I am playing Witcher 2.

Sounds like I need a new paste or to re-paste what I've got.

Sorry, FN+1 is the only way to turn the fan on all the time.

Just as an update (if anybody cares), I finally received my ic diamond 7 and re-pasted. In a hot room I'm now topping out in Crysis 2 at 74 degrees (before the re-paste I was hitting 90 degrees halfway through a second run in the Adrenaline Crysis 2 xtreme benchmark). I am now the world's biggest convert when it comes to re-pasting!
