I got a big 50inch Plasma Panasonic ST30 HDTV. Im using HDMI output from the laptop to extend my laptop screen on my TV but it doesn't seem to work. My TV saying there's no signal. Since im not with my old Acer with a VGA output, anyone tried it and can give me advice about it or guide i need to make it happen. I would really appreciate trying to play games on it. :)

I assume you've got Windows 7. Try using WINDOWS KEY + P, it will trigger Presentation Mode which looks like this:

Afterwards pick one of following and then it should work ;)

    I hope it helps :D

Yeah, i tried but it doesn't work.

Im gonna try this function. Its a bit hard to know which one control the HDMI output because i see 3 way of controling the HDMI port. First from Cataclyst Center, second from P150HM keyboard and third from Windows 7.

Ah, did you put the TV signal on HDMI? and are you sure that you've put it in the right HDMI stick? I've got 3 different HDMI sticks in my TV and you've got to select the right number on the TV to make it work, afterwards I need to do that Windows key + P combo on my lappy :)

Yeah i took HDMI port 1 from my TV, its connected to HDMI port 1 as well.

    Edit:

I did some testing to see what componant can have a Defectuosity. First i tested connecting my laptop to my ACL TV which have a HDMI port and it doesn't work. Also i re-tested my HDMI cable with my PS3 to check if the cable had a defectuosity and it work. So the problem is coming from the laptop itself.

Make sure you didn't mess around in Catalyst Center then and didn't accidently turn something off :)

I don't think, also I highly doubt your TV supports DVI :) but you could try if I am wrong though, as long as something works.. :)

I wish I could help, but I really do not know what else to do.

I think you should try playing around by yourself a little and wait until the information-army arrives.

Have you tried hooking up to any other TV? It sounds like it's possibly related to the HDMI input on your TV and not necessarily the laptop. Most of the time, it's simply plug in the laptop and it just works. (granted, after you do Windows key + P in some cases). If that doesn't work, then it very well could be a bad HDMI port on the laptop.

Check if your hdtv has a label system for inputs. On my 50" plasma i had to set the label on HDMI to "PC" for it to work. Before it would say as yours - "No signal.".

There are still test i can do. I got a Third HDMI input i can try and its my LG DEL 23inch monitor from my desktop. I can also try the DVI output using my DEL monitor. I just hope i dont get a bad HDMI output.

I can also try different label with my HDTV but since i tested with 2 TV i dont think it will make a change.

    Edit:

I did some test during my lunchbreak at home. I tested DVI first on my LED Desktop monitor and everything work fine. I can extend or duplicate my laptop. I also tested HDMI port on my LED monitor and it didn't work. It does the same as my Panasonic it detect it but doesn't send the signal. I can see the "E2350" LG model number in Cataclyst Control Center.

Try asking in avsforum.com on the Plasma Section. There are some pros there who may help you.

I use the same cable to play with my PS3 and it work fine. I used to play on both my Plasma and my DEL monitor.

I also have a 50" Panasonic Plasma and its been great and no problems hooking it up.

Do you have the VGA or DVI on the notebook computer hooked up to anything else? You can only use one at a time (HDMI/VGA/DVI)

Can you use the same cable and input port on the TV and connect to your desktop and get a signal?

No i only using one port at a time. I got DVI and HDMI port on laptop. DVI and HDMI port on LG E2350 DEL monitor, only HDMI ports on Panasonic ST30 HDTV. On my DEL monitor i can select input no problem. As i said earlier DVI work on DEL monitor but not HDMI.

So far when i plug something in the HDMI port, windows make a sound when it detect i plugged something. Cataclyst control center can tell me what device is connected. For example if i plug my DEL monitor, its say "E2350" detected, if i plug my Panasonic HDTV its say "PanasonicTV0" detected.
