While web browsing the fan cycles on and off in ~5 second intervals (gets quite annoying after a while). Is there a program that allows you to control the fan speed, or set a higher temperature before the fan turns on?

The fans are controlled by the bios. There is a set table they follow. I don't they can be controlled by a program. My cpu fan will cycle often, but that's just when the cpu is getting more use. Is this happening with max fans (fn + 1) or just idle?

The same thing is happening to me, what kind of temps have you been getting while web browsing.

Idle, like right now all I have is Chrome open and the fan continuously cycles on and off (~5 secs on then ~5 secs off).

That's odd. What bios are you using?

Last thing I can think of is resetting the CMOS. Unplug the AC adapter and pull the battery. Then hold the power button for about 10 secs. I'm not sure it will make a difference in this instance but it's worth a try.

I think this is normal, it has been posted before.

It also depends on your full system specs.

My GPU fan never goes off, just slows down from low, med & high as needed.

My CPU fan however is off when on web most the time and sometimes it will jump up.

The issue is just that when the cpu hits the temp it slows back down or stops (the fan). Being your CPU is lower than mine for example it has to bump up its speed from its idle/downclocked speed to do things mine may be able to do at its underclocked speed because the speed is higher on mine.

So it also depends on your power management settings. I have my CPU set to go down to lowest possible speed and ramp up on demand, maybe you have yours set to be higher or left at windows default?

Also, the latest bios is .14 not .12 but I don't know that anyone has the actual bios files.

My replacement pm150hm came with .14 dated aug 8th. Not sure what all it changed but doubt the fan table as that was changed on .11 I thought or something lower.

Anyway, don't worry about the fan, so long as your temps are good. If you want like I said you can play with power management and make it (the cpu) either downclock (if its not already) when not needed on the demand, or if it is that way make it run at full speed always, which will make the fan probably stay on more constant.
