I'm trying to decide between two options: 1) Put the SDD internally with the 500gb in the hard drive caddy or 2) the other way around.

And I'm wondering if there are any performance discrepancies if I went with one over the other. The reason why I'm considering this is that option 2 is slightly cheaper. SDD will be used as OS drive.

Put the SSD internally (primary slot) and HDD in the caddy. Someone from this forum told me its the best way. Reason - primary SATA is SATA-3 and Caddy supports Sata-2.

I've done just that, and Im happy with my rig (best rig in my life so far).

Also - just in case you ask about my OCZ Vertex 3 - I've used it for 2 weeks now and NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. Just in case you are deciding what SSD to get.

P.S. Yes, I have wondered myself why its cheaper....putting the ssd in the caddy and leaving HDD in its primary slot. Maybe its calculating labor costs....dunno. Anyways, buy it and you can swap places yourself! Primary slot = Sata-3, caddy = sata-2.

Hmm, I didn't think about switching it out myself! Wondering how that simple solution alluded me.

The SDD I'm getting is only SATA-II anyways so it shouldn't matter.... right?

    [edit]

Actually, I went with option 3: buy SSD from someplace else. Just got a Corsair SATA-3 90gb for $100 off ebay. Hooray for luck and penny pinching!

I went with option 3 as well! Bought my OCZ Vertex 3 60gb of a local store and installed it myself....Im very happy how it performs.

Btw, SATA-3 rocks! Dont settle for anything less!
