    Hello everyone,

So I bought a Sager P150HM almost exactly 1 Year ago today.

It worked pretty well when playing Battlefield 3 and Diablo 3, however I haven't ran any games on it in awhile. I get about 68 to 75 while browsing the web, but when playing games, such as Kerbal Space Program, I run at about 100c to 103c, which is borderline GPU suicide. I have been monitoring my temperatures using HWMonitor. Ambient temperature is about 70f.

    Computer is running a 6690m and 2760QM i7.

What have I done so far to fix this problem?
    • Completely cleaned the fans.
    • Turned down all overclocks, I am actually below defaults right now
    • Turned down game settings and things such as anti-aliasing are turned off.
    • Run laptop on a cooler.

In short, I have done pretty much everything short of re-pasting the GPU. Shortly after I got the laptop I did take the heatsink off, clean it with iso alcohol , and put some Arctic Silver on there. Even after doing so it was never running at these temperatures.

Does anyone have any ideas? Should I put a new thermal compound on the GPU? Is my GPU shot?

Frankly, I do not understand why this laptop is running so hot. Regretting this purchase at this point.

Try tightening the heatsinks, especially for the CPU.

Sounds like the same issue I had with my np8170, ended up buying a new set of fans.

When you take those heat sinks off you will see some very crusty and patchy thermal paste!

New paste alone won't fix this, but do take others' advice and check the heatsinks. Arctic Silver is very good - most people seem to swear by the IC Diamond though.

    - Consider bad fans (assuming you haven't already ruled that out with testing/software monitoring)
    - Don't forget about your ambient temperature. The temperature in wherever you're using the system will affect the laptop's internal temps.
    - Are the laptop's vents being obscured? Consider a cooling pad to elevate it, to allow for better heat dissipation.

We have nearly identical specs, except I have ICD thermal compound.
My GPU runs a little hot too, but not up to 100c-103c. (actually, you make my GPU seem cold lol)
Check your CPU load as well when your GPU temps gets high.

I get around 55c while web browsing and 70-80 when playing games.

Goodluck, Im sure youll find a way to bring those temps down.

Sometimes heatpipes can get damaged, you can check if they are operating by submersing the GPU contact plate in hot water and checking the fins get hot quickly.

Obviously make sure the heatsink is dry before putting it back in ;)
