I got it just for 2 weeks and I have been very gentle and careful while handling this baby. I usually put it in my North face backpack. but the coating on one of the corners of the cover is starting to peel off....
Any idea on how to "refurbish" the rubberished finish? Everytime I see the that part I am very annoyed.

Rubberized finish eventually wears off. It happens all the time on Alienwares and the likes with such a finish. (Which is a big con on those finishes.)

I have no idea how yours is already peeling off though. 2 weeks is not normal. You might want to contact your reseller for a hull exchange.

Two weeks is definitely not normal. Unless it's been abused (which is unlikely, I'd think), it's most likely a manufacturing defect. In the little over a year these models have been shipping, I haven't seen any reports on the forums of a peeling finish. I've had my own P150HM for most of that time and the casing is still almost factory fresh in appearance.

I'd say it's worth contacting your retailer anyway to see if they have any suggestions.

Thanks for the reply, I am assuming that the "chains" of the zipper of my backpack scratched the corners when I put the notebook in it.

Yeah either it got scratched in your bag, or you got it defected. Possibly with tiny air spaces under or whatever that can happen to rubber coatings.

Was just about to ask if that was your problem or not!
One of my classmates deals with the same problem, since his bag is rather primitive and old it scratches his laptops corners, all of the coating is almost gone now :p

Now that's very interesting. Can you prove it, any links to the last gen AW systems with rubberized coating peeling off? Asking because I owned quite a few in the past and my main rig, M18x doesn't show any wear on the rubberized palmrest after almost 8 months of heavy abuse. I even tried cutting it with a xacto knife to no effect, lol.

Edit: never mind, I just remembered that M18x and M17xR3 do not have coating. Instead, their palmrests and lid cover (M17xR3) are made entirely of rubberized plastic 3-4mm thick. So there's nothing there that can be peeled off.

I am aware of this because I had been looking at M11x for some weeks prior getting Y460. That was some good years ago and, when I looked at ebay for used machines for cheap, they had their rubberized coating wore off.

And it was the reason I chose Sager 8130 over 8150. The coating is vulnerable.

Can't comment on the M11x. But that's an entirely different category price/components/features. The coating is vulnerable but mostly prone to stains. Like I said been using mine for 8 months and no wear at all. As for fingerprints, I use damp cloth once a month and it looks like new.

The coating will last more than 8 months; few years at least if properly taken care of. From what I gathered at that time, it doesn't peel off easily, rather it wears off by long exposure to touches.
