    Whats the preferred method to clean the surface of the laptop. Mine has acquired some dust and I don't want to rub it into the finish and mar it.

    just wipe off with a face cloth. mine collects a ton of dust from all the smoke in the house and i just wipe it off and it hasnt smeared in. also clean out your copper fins as they love to collect dust inside of them. the best way to clean them out is to find a small flat head and carefully clean them out.

    Micro-fiber cloths have always worked well for me. Building off of d2c's suggestion, you can also grab a can of compressed air and blow into the intake fans so any dust shoots out the exhaust of the computer. For better results remove the bottom panel. :)

    I agree with J.P. on this one. A microfiber cloth OR a lint free cloth (like those sold with cameras for lens cleaning) work the best. There really isn't a need for any type of cleaning solution though.
