Im unsure if anyone here cares for the P15x Series, however this is the design for the custom bottom panel which i am working on (Will update).

The cpu fan mesh is more like a speaker grill (like the small black one on the underside of this machine). Its metal and firm to stop any flexing and i may add some supports to stop the potential of anything forcing the mesh up into the Fans.

If its useless i apologise, if anyone thinks its interesting or unique then thank you! I also have another design with the feet further back to add the extra little bit of air to get into the fans, However im unsure if i would want to do that or use the stock feet position.

    ENJOY!

Very cool, interesting on the mesh hole sizing, will it not be more restrictive?

it may not be to the same sizing as the speaker grill, but the same structurally. I was planning on having the fan as close to the mesh as possible, however as I said an issue with this could be the mesh/grill being damaged and pushed up into the plastic fans, =no cooling at all haha. The mesh used in the design was the mesh from the speaker grill just for illustration purposes.

My thought process was due to the thicker plastic OEM grills, the air would have to divert to go into the fan as it couldnt travel straight in due to the plastic, But with a thinner material more air would be able to flow directly into the fan. Also the cut outs for the fans are not the same size as the actual fan intakes. I was meddling with the idea of putting a bigger cpu fan in if I can make it fit though.

I am open to any opinions though! I'm by no means an engineer (although I was a rallycross engineer at one stage), My plans were to keep the laptop as portable as possible, OC the cpu as much as i can and install a 980m or maybe something better? I have 32GB of ram already installed and a beefier PSU which I donated to this project from an Alienware. However I have ran into a bit of an issue with the BIOS currently (im sure we all know what BIOS I need in this situation, however no luck locating it as of yet).

Personally an open metallic grille is my choice, it give rigidity while being as open as possible. Here is the design I went for on my laptop stand:

That is a cool stand! Props to you for that one! I want the rigidity but also as much air as possible to be sucked straight up in. I may have to do some searching around to find the perfect metallic grille to suit the air intakes, i may have to compromise a little but hopefully I find something which fits the bill!

It was a standard 2x 140mm fan grille I found at a computer store and then used that to size up my setup.

Hey, any update on this project? Were you planning on 3D printing the back panel? I'm in the UK too with the same laptop so it would be awesome if this was made available!
