    Hi guys.

I purchased a P150SM a few weeks back, specs in my sig.

I've got a few quid to upgrade it now.

Areas I'm looking at is, a new OS Drive, new Wireless Card and RAM.

I think I'll be getting a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro as my OS/Apps drive and have my 830 as my data drive. Is there a better SSD out there? From what I can read, the 840 pro is the quickest.

RAM is a tricky one. Does this really need upgrading? I want best power I can, I currently have 2x 4GB Samsung sticks 1600mhz, nothing special. I've spoke to Calibre and he thinks the new Samsung Green RAM is the way to go? Any care to add in some nice gaming RAM?

Lastly is the Wireless card. I've got a Intel N135 in there at the minute, works well, but there are obviously better cards. Bluetooth is preferred. I've been looking at the Killer 1202 and believe these cards are best for throughput and latency?

Anyone have any opinions on the above?

For the SSD, yep, the 840Pro is the quickest, but I don't think you'll notice any difference.

RAM ? Well, I don't think it would be visible too, and if you really wanted to upgrade you should go for higher freq, but IMO it's useless (or not cost-worthy).

Now for the WiFi, as I don't need Bluetooth I use an Intel 6300.If you want a good card with bluetooth, I'd check the 6230 (15€ on ebay). I don't really like the killer, I have seen too many problems with them (BSoD, disconnecting,etc...)

For the SSD, I just need more space, I refuse to buy anything other than SSD now. So if I buy another SSD, I'll buy a better one than my 830 and make the 840 pro my Primary drive.
RAM, I think it might be a little pointless too. Just thought that I'd try and upgrade best I could.
Thanks, I'll check the 6230 out now. I've heard bad things about the killer cards too, but hear very very good things also.

The Samsung 840 Pro are probably one of the best to go with. If you wanted something to compare it to the Intel 520 series are also very good.
I agree upgrading the RAM is something you'd be very hard pressed to see any difference on.
Intel 6235 if you want bluetooth. Bigfoot 1202 can be better but we do hear more of an occasional signal drop issue with them, they are working right they are great for gaming.

I think Samsung 840 Pro and a nice new 6235 card it is then. Will leave RAM as it is. Unless I really feel the urge to upgrade!

    Thanks guys.

The new Intel Centrino Advanced-AC 7260 2*2 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n + BT 4.0 would be my choice for wireless + bluetooth card. Of course, an AC router would be necessary to take advantage of all the speed of the AC band.

For the WiFi cards, take a look on eBay (I got my 6300 for 20€ ;).

If you need more space, yes go for the 840Pro (I have only SSDs as well, and it's practical. But remember that the DVD SATA port is SATA 2 Only :/ )

Ah, didn't know about the SATA2 port, thanks for that.

As for the AC cards, I was thinking about those also. Will need to see how much routers would be.

If it's a drive you imagine filling the extreme 2 from sandisk looks good too.

The Samsung Green is really only if your able to overclock and adjust voltages - and they rarer than unicorn turd!

I believe Meaker is pushing for 2400mhz @ CL12 (1.5v??)......... yowzers!!!! - If it where even remotely possible that RAM could/would bottleneck any type of performance, this eliminates it..... lol

    * Marksman30k is running 2133mhz CL12-12-12-30 at 1.35V :D this stuff is just too cool to miss out on

They are also a little shorter than regular RAM so I might be making a small simple stamped copper heat spreader with a rough fin patter in this space to fill it if they run at all hot

They dont get hot at all.

I was running 1980mhz cl9 command rate 1 actually. Ill be putting them in my next system. :D

Since mobile haswell is forced to 1.35v ill be aiming a bit lower.
