    Hi Guys,

    I have a problem... I bought a few years ago a P150SM with the AMD8970M as a graphics card.

Yesterday the graphics card died and I managed to buy a nVidia 870M used from a P151SM.

I managed to install the card and it shows up in the BIOS. But I can't install the drivers in Windows 10. It never recognizes the hardware.

I have a @Prema Mod but I'm not sure what version. I installed it ages ago.

    Can anyone help me?

    Thank you

Ok so... I finally managed to install the card on Windows 10 using a mod .info. But now it doesn't use the dedicated graphics card in game I tried multiple games. I have on nVidia Control Panel everything on Max performance.

With AIDA64 when I do the GPUs STRESS Test it uses both the integrated and dedicated but other than that it doesn't work

    Also my PremaMod is v2

    Thank you

What is the size of the 870M? 3GB or 6GB?

    - Make a backup of your current vBIOS (with nvflash or GPU-Z)
    - download nvflash
    - Extract it on c:/nvflash
    - Put the attached vBios into the same folder.
    - Go to windows search bar
    - type: device
    - open device manager, turn your gfx off / disable (not delete) your GTX 870M
    - open windows search
    - type: cmd
    - rightclick CMD and start as admin
    - write: cd c:/nvflash
    - write: nvflash -6 870mOC.rom
    - say yes and yes
    - wait until it's done
    - Go do device manager again
    - turn 870M on again
    - restart notebook.
Enjoy full or even more performance.

Note: You might need to reinstall the NVIDIA driver again since after flash it might not recognize ur card in some cases again.

    @Danishblunt Thank you.

I've done that but I still have the same problem. All the games I open just run on the integrated GPU :S

interesting. Give me a little minute and see if I can resolve this.

What is the hardwareID from your graphicscard?

    Thank you.
    The hardwareID is PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1199&SUBSYS_51061558&REV_A1

I've tried multiple driver versions no success is there for example a specific driver version that I should have?

    - Download DDU
    - Uninstall your current driver completely
    - Restart in driver signature disabled mode
    - Download the newest driver (388.13)
    - Replace the file from my signature in C:/NVIDIA/DisplayDriver/388.13/Win10_64/International/Display.Driver
    - Start installer, try again.

I have a suspicion, do you still have the old vBIOS backuped? If so could you upload it in a zip file?

Alright, the card and vBios are ok, so nothing to change there.

So it's a driver only issue or maybe Bios, which BIOS version do you have from prema? (check with hwinfo64 in case u're not sure)

    Alright so to recap:
    - Bios version is fine
    - vBios is fine

So it's going to be another nvidias crap section problem. Gotta love those.

Try this one, I think it should work with this if it's anything like the 880M

Is that to erase and reinstall the drivers again?

Afraid so, it's an annoying process really but once you found the right sector it will work. Had the same with my old GTX 880m. I took the same sector as my old 880M, so if it's anything like that it should work now.

No problem! I just wanted to make sure before erasing also is there any difference between express install or custom?

Just express instll it, u'll probably be wanting everything anyways just to be safe that u don't face some dumb game that suddenly wants you to install something like physx etc.

As I said, Nvidia has their own weird way of handling their drivers, their sectors like to cause some issues sometimes, basicially telling their drivers when to do what and how do do what, I simply changed the sector to the one that I used on my 880M back in the days, since your 870 is similair to my 880M I had.

If temps are good, you might want to overclock the card a bit, you got the right vBios from me to do so, so knock yourself out and get the performance you want ;)

    Thank you :)

I need to buy some new thermal pads and a better thermal paste before doing that. :)

    u're welcome.

Personally kryonaut performing really great for me, noctua NT-H1 also seems to be a VERY good choice if you want something good, I've tested noctua and honestly, for your GPU it might even be the best, since you probably got a very bad fit (P1xx mdels have bad fits), Noctua is rather thick and is really good against those kinds of things.
