So, hello everyone,
I'm gathering all my coins to get a clevo. The specs i chose are:
Processor - Intel® 3rd Generation Core™ i7-3630(IVY BRIDGE)
RAM - 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ (1x8GB) Corsair Vengeance
Graphic Board - AMD ATI 7970 2GB DDR5
Storage - 750GB 7200rpm + SSD mSata OCZ 120GB nocti
Optical driver - DVD
Connectivity - wireless + Bluetooth
LCD - 15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) LED Matte Normal
it would be around 1780$ (1375€![]()
I was with some doubts between the i7-3630 and the 3740, but for what i saw it is not much difference and i can save more than 130$ (100€right there.
also the AMD 7970 because there were some issues withe drivers (which i think it's getting solved, new beta(?) drivers were released.)
because of the price difference between 7970 and the GTX 680, the other solution would be the GTX 675.
other doubt is in the ssd mSata or if i should make same changes and put a SSD in the optical driver. (however I thought the mSATA would be just fine)
what do you say?
----
Other thing I would like to know from those who already own the P150EM, how is its built quality?
good material? resistant?(i'm not going to drop it... intentionally)
Cheers!

The 3740 wouldn't be a terrible idea. The 3630 will be plenty of power for everything otherwise, and still be able to handle photoshop, but the 3740 would make it a little smoother/faster.
The 7970 issues seem to be ironed out for the users affected by the drivers issue, I'll let others chime in on this one, we still haven't had a unit in our facility to test that was affected as far as I know.
If you were willing to get rid of the ODD, then I'd actually put a SSD in the primary bay and the HDD in the optical for the best performance. -
tks for the reply
humm... the 3740 i have to think about it... tha amount of money realy makes a bit difference to me.
about the ssd you say to put it in the 1st storage and the HDD in the optical drive.. does it make any difference to be in those positions and not on the oposite (SSD in the optical and the HDD in the 1st storage?)
Cheers -
Doesnt sound like you really need 3740, i have 3610 and works like a charm..
It does make a difference, you want your SSD to be in the primary bay to be your primary OS drive, otherwise you are losing a lot of performance (my guess). I am not sure if you can install OS in the optical bay drive. ALso msata i slower than an actual SSD, so definitely go for an SSD in the primary and secondary in the optical (or just a good USB 3.0 external HDD like i use), and forget about the msata, you can buy one later if you want.
As for the 7970M for me it has always worked fantastic, its a great card EVEN with the GPU usage issues, that affect BF3 and crysis 2 multiplayer mostly, and that at least in BF3 case is mostly fixed in the latest driver.
IMHO 7970M is the way to go pricewise, 680M is great but just not 40% greater... only 10 or 15% better at the most. -

Great system with a great build. The system will be a little warmer if this is your first gaming laptop but as far as gaming notebooks go it's not that hot.
