have you cleaned your fans recently. i thought my gpu fan was broken but it was just dust bloking the copper fins. the best solution for me was to open the case, and take the metal plates off the fan. then find something thin and gently scrap out the dust from the fans. i noticed a big drop in temp. also my fan still wont go full blast even when its above 90 celcius. and i have the latest bios.

Also, try pressing Fn + 1 as this toggles fan control speeds on your laptop.

DOH I thought mine was broken, I was pushing Fn + F1 DOH. Fn + 1 = :) although it does pulse a bit. I watched my fans yesterday and the CPU fan barely ever comes on. I ran 3D 2K11 and only a couple features made the CPU fan come alive. The GPU fan and heatpipes were mad hot the whole test. My Dell XPS 1730 with dual 8800GTX would require very frequent cleaning as the dust would plug the fins and cause overheating. THe best way was to remove the fans as the dust was embedded deep inside the fins. Made a huge difference after cleaning.

Running the fans at 100% made little overall difference in max temps [RAGE for 1 hour]. So in my case its not worth the annoying noise it makes running that fast. I think they did a great job at keeping the noise low and the cooling at maximum efficiency.
