    Hi

I haven't found an introduction-thread so this is my "Hello" post!

I am new to this forum but not completely new to flashing.

My probem is I flashed a (by myself) modified vBios on my 6990m in my P150hm (Subvendor is Dimotion) but it doesn't have any effect.

I read it out with atiflash in dos, then modified it with radeon bios editor and flashed it again with atiflash in dos without any errors.

I wanted to undervolt it to 1.0 Volt at 715/900 but it still runs at 1.1V (overdrive is deactivated)

I also tried to overclock it to 730/930 with 1.1 Volt just to see if it works but unfortunately it does not!

Gpu-Z shows me the raised clocks but it always stays at the standards even in games(715/900)

Has anybody an idea what I am doing wrong?

Bios is the latest downloaded from the schenker homepage (EC13 and Bios14 I think)

If anybody needs more info please leave a reply

    Thanks in advance!

From memory you can do undervolting wuthout bios flashing it was an ati tool or so i used for this. Do a search on here in alienware for 6990 undervolting. Once you mod it you need a function key to activate 3d mode and then you are set. Modifying bios is risky and always backup your original bios.

Personally the gains with o/c 6990 are small. I went from 3665 to 4000 with o/c. But your best off getting a 7970m and enjoying your hm machine more.

    Hi

Thx for your answer. I'd love to get a 7970 but still very expensive so I have to save a little bit for it.

I would like to have it in bios directly besause I would undervolt all values and not only the max clocks

The strange thing is that I can flash it but it doesn't make any difference

Has nobody any idea why the change in bios values doesn't have any effect?

Some cards may not support vbios value changing for the GPU voltage.

    Try
    atiflash -unlockrom 0
    before flashing back the VBIOS.

I've never seen that command before, was that just a 6xxx series thing? Is that getting past a bios writing block or actually allowing extra things to be written?

This command worked even for 5xxx series cards. Some cards had some sort of write protection of the VBIOS. This command allowed to remove that protection. I remember, that I couldn't flash any VBIOS to 5870M in my old MSI GX740. Only after I used this command, I was able to do that.

I do not get any error message neither with -unlockrom nor without.

Atiflash flashes the modified bios but it doesnt change anything except when I also change the Coreclock, GPU-Z shows me the modified clock under "Default clock" but it always stays at the standard clock (715MHz) even under load

First of all thanks for your help but I solved the problem by myself!

It was the driver! With 13.8beta it did not work but with 13.4 stable it does! Undervolting and overclocking works fine
