Need to see some 6990m numbers!
-
Is this at stock clock speeds? Cause when i overclock my 485m to stable speeds i get an 8 fps boost. I can't wait to test this game out! -

i have 485m with i72630qm running it from around 26-35 ultra @ 1080p no AA
-
Everyone else seems to be reporting at the 20-30fps mark though (with the 485m) which was strange to me so I did another run. This time I only got 20-30fps as well... I think what I might have done is read the settings before the game was in full screen (before I pressed Alt-Enter) because I was tabbing out at the time, so it was displaying a lower resolution.
Also keep in mind that these are not the final settings for the game. When the game releases fully there will be even higher graphic settings available.
So I get 20-30fps with these settings:
-
Does anyone know yet how much of a difference from high to ultra there is with certain settings? Is it completely missing effects or just downscaled versions of the effects?
-
-
I've been playing all high settings at 1080p on my 560m in my p151hm, no visible stuttering, etc. It actually set textures at ultra originally, but I turned it down to high just so everything would only be at high.

I'm really interested to see how the amd cards perform, but everyone seems to have nvidia.
-
I'm downloading the BF3 beta as we speak, i will put putting some detailed videos up on my youtube later tonight or tomorrow.
-
I have a sager NP8130 with a GTX 560m and I am really surprised by how well it can run this game, with everything high and top resolution (1900 by something) I had 24 fps, and to be honest I find that totally playable. so happy!
-
-
Oh and referring to your previous question, the FPS numbers I put up were on stock clocks; you could imagine how it will run when overclocked!
-
I played it completely maxed out with 4x AA and was kinda disappointed with the graphics, idgi what makes the graphics so special...looks worse than CoD to me at least in the beta. Which yea i know it's just Mp beta and the graphics are toned down. I care more about the single player at this point. About to upload the video of my fraps benchmark. Check for it early tomorrow most likely as its about 10 minutes long and will take forever to upload.
Edit, i should also mention i recorded with fraps while overclocked to 670/1340/1600 at 72op -
I CAN CONFIRM WITH GTX 580M AT STOCK SPEEDS 1080P ALL MAX, PLAYABLE. This is with latest Nvidia beta driver.
-
I'm actually pretty disappointed in the BF3 beta graphics, looks worse than Crysis 1.

i just got done playing caspian and omg it was like playing in a war movie, i was on medium 1900X1080 with medium and had 40 fps which im use to playing with so i love it.
-
Oh and i just uploaded a 720p video of the beta running on my 485m
Battlefield 3 Beta - Sager NP8170 with GTX 485m - Maxed Out Settings - YouTube
Keep in mind i used an overclock of 670/1340/1600, and fraps recording cut down the framerate a ton. -
Nice going Johnnymann27.
Can you tell me how you got the 6970m and how you got it into the 8130/p151hm1, I though it is only sold with the 560m ? -
-
I think ur laptop can handle it :
485m > 560m = lower clock desktop gts 450,
while watching youtube footage on gts 450 and 560m, it can run very well on medium (900p) in 25 - 30 fps average in 64 people environment in beta in indoor and outdoor. Dont know about how well it can do in air and ground vehicles. -
Didn't read through the pages, but my laptop is in my sig and here are some BF3 SS's
I didn't max out the options(there are tons!) And I"m getting nearly 30 fps..when I "try" when the game is actually live, I'll tone the GFX down a bit for better framerates. -
What settings are you using helmet? Maybe my eyes are just playing games on me but your pics look better than my gameplay, and I think I have everything except a few of the bottom settings on ultra
Also what temps have you/people with the 580 been getting while playing? I think my highest has been 89c. Kinda warm, but I guess it's to be expected without a cooler and on a flat surface..
-
Trying to play on the laptop in m sig. Keeps telling me my drivers aren't supported and I'm running the latest drivers for the 560M. Has anyone been able to successfully run the beta with a 560M?
Thanks. -
Use that beta driver.
As for me the game runs decent on my 460M at it's auto detected settings at 1920x1080, my 460M is running matched to the 560M's clocks, I haven't checked actual FPS yet but it's definitely playable speeds. -
I have a problem with video settings. When I change video settings nothing happens. And I have restarted the game after the changes. I have 6970M with 11.8 drivers.
-
When I back the settings off to medium, I don't much of a difference.
My temps, while in game have not broken 75, though through stress tests I have seen 95c
Generally I game on a flat surface, that is, until I build my cooler. -
All I can say right now is:
The game looks much better on PC than the 360... (as expected) but its just waaaay too different *-* I only compared some of the screenshots with my xbox running on 720p on a plasma Screen.
The framerate tho is pretty nice on the 360.
I wonder why there is such a huge difference between Nvidia and ATI cards for this game. perhaps it was optimized to run on Nvidia? -
I get around 40 FPS everyting on Ultra 16x AA / 4X MSNAA (Beta though -> No change between low/medium/ultra ;S)
on my 6970M but it's overheating big time...
GPU TS0 ( DispIO) :101C
GPU TS1 ( MemIO) :86C
GPU TS2 (Shader) :87C -
im playing with the gtx560m at 1080p everithing low and i get 45 fps even in caspian border no aa and 4 af

Guys what would be a safe temperature for the CPU?
I have a I7-2720QM an while playing Battlefield 3, two of the cores reach arround 91-92C while the rest are arroung 75-80C.
If I use a laptop cooler (Zalman NC3000U) the temps drop about 10C. -
Anthony@MALIBAL Company Representative
Also, different temperatures between cores isn't unusual, but that much of a difference is. -
I have not repasted it... should I? It was bought back in may from XotiPC with IC7 on it... I guess it should last longer untill replace.
The set up is with a 485M and this only happens under BF3... otherwise (SC2 or any other game) it's arround 75-78C.
Guess BF3 is pushing it to the limits. Will use a cooler when playing it so I can keep temps under 80C.
-
I just downloaded the beta,
graphics wow, but I seem to suck, and I don't know what to achieve.. perhaps I should study about the maps before doing anything...
If anybody feels like playing, if I'm online you can add me!
Origin is meraki1990 -
Ryan, the real key in Beta, thusfar is to master sprint+prone
Just do that back and forth and always be looking for an object to hide behind.
Otherwise just camp and pick them apart -
BF3 does take some getting used to but after a few rounds you'll get really good especially once you start learning the map. I have everything on max and my CPU is around 70-77C and my GPU is maxes at 87C.
-
i7-2630+ 6990m should run BF3 @ high comfortably
does the 2630 cover it or would it be worth getting a stronger cpu when I order my laptop soon? -
2630 should be plenty for BF3 imo if you want to optimize your CPU a bit put a good thermal compund on it (i'm using MX-4) so the CPU keeps cooler and the Turbo stays kicked in so you should play mostly @ 2.2Ghz instead of 2.0Ghz
tried the game today with my NB and it runs pretty well ~50fps on Ultra 1920x1080 without AA but Post Processing AA @ med
