Hey guys, my Malibal P151HM1 which I've had for roughly a year suddenly turned off this afternoon while watching an HD stream. After it turned off, I noticed the bottom of the laptop was quite hot, but nothing out of the ordinary really. Now I cannot turn it on. Whenever I try, absolutely nothing happens (no LED flashing, no lights anywhere, no sounds). It's like it's completely dead. I've tried different power adapters and nothing works. I believe there was plenty of battery left before it turned off. I opened up the bottom and didn't notice anything unusual.
You guys know what this might be? I already contacted support. Sounds like a motherboard issue?

Normally an overheat requires you to remove the power supply AND battery to get it working again. Remove both and hold down the power button to discharge the laptop and then put it all back together again.
Something could have burnt out depending how hot it was but thermal shutdown should normally kick in before that happens and a HD stream should not really push it that hard. -
I've tried doing ask you asked, and the laptop is still not responsive. Honestly I'm thinking that the problem is not really heat related, since my laptop has always been on the hotter side, it's just something I noticed and commented on. This is the second time I've needed repairs on my laptop, I really hope this does not become a continuous issue.

Yeah well that's the plan I suppose. I really can't complain though since their service has been top-notch, it's just that the laptop has had its fair share of issues.
Anyway, thanks for your help. -
when was the last time you cleaned your fans and vents out. this is one of the main reasons for heat related issues as well as thermal paste.
also what sort of temperatures were you getting before or dont you monitor them. (free software to monitor in sig below) after you get it repaired of course.
it does sound like something has died but one last thing you could try.
remove mains and battery and hold mains button down for 10 seconds.
remove base plate and search for the cmos battery and remove it.
replace and put back together and try again. first with mains but no battery connected. then try it with battery only.
if nothing changes then its defo a repair job and most prob the motherboard. -
I clean the fans and vents semi-regularly, probably every 2-3 months. I used HWMonitor, and the temps were a but high, but nothing extreme (70-80C CPU and 60-70 GPU) although the GPU side was what felt hotter than normal when my computer shut down unexpectedly. I tried reseating the CMOS to no avail. Looks like a fried motherboard honestly.
Support still hasn't gotten back to me. I wonder how much this will cost me?
Oh and thanks for your help guys. -
if its just out of warranty then its best to wait for support to get back to you. not sure if they work at weekends or not.
hopefully they will be able to help out and advise further.
