I received my P151HM1 from MALIBAL today. A few minutes after tuning the machine on I began to get semi-long beeps every two seconds or so. The two lights on the left side of the machine (lock and Capslock?) also blink while it beeps. Eventually the machine will shut off. It appears to be charging. The two lights on the front of the machine are on. One is green, the other is orange and the AC adapter light is also on.

    Any help?

I am sure MALIBAL will chime in but try to remove the battery and boot it with out that in and see if that changes anything.

If not it most likey just had something shaken a little loose during shipping. Could be something silly like HDD or RAM not in all the way.

I shot MALIBAL a pm with a link to here. They'll probably answer pretty soon.

HDD and RAM appear fine in the BIOS.

    Thanks. :)

Speaking of the blinking lights, what do the three lights on the left hand side near the power button represent? Call me oblivious, but I guess I never even realized them until now... but I do know about the three lights on the right hand side.

EDIT: I see the left side middle is the CAPLOCK.

Ok so both the reps are offline right now. What happens as soon as you turn it on? Does windows begin to startup?

Is all the RAM showing up in Bios? Typically a beep code like that (non stop long beeps, at a specific interval) indicate faulty or not properly seated RAM modules. (It can also mean VGA graphics failure). The lights on it all sound normal, the orange light represents it's charging and the green is power-on.

The blue lights in the top left are num lock/scroll lock/caps lock. Those in the top right are HDD activity/Wifi/bluetooth.

You can try reseating the RAM if you'd like, but I believe it should be under the keyboard, which may be an tough to get to. Also try booting without the power adapter plugged in, and once without the battery.

I didn't order it with Windows and I don't dare install my copy until I can get these beeps and shutdowns sorted out.

I think it might be overheating.

OK, I'll try booting without those things.

The beeping and shutdown happens in both cases. Running on AC alone or the battery by itself makes no difference.

Wait a sec, if you've got a blank hard drive, put in your Windows installation disk and boot to it. If it boots to the disk and sits at the install prompt for a few minutes, then there isn't a problem.

The machine may just be shutting down because it doesn't detect a valid partition to boot to.

Is that something Clevo's do? Seems strange because I've never known any other computer manufacturer to auto shutdown because it detected an unformatted disk.

I'll try and report back, though. :)

It shutdown during the Windows setup process. No beeping this time, but I did get the two flashing lights (Numlock and Capslock).

I'm pretty sure it's overheating now because it tends to beep and shutdown more quickly after I've booted up the machine immediately after the last shutdown. If I leave it off for a few minutes, I tend to get more time before the beeps and shutdown occur.

Yes, that is an indication of overheating - check your fans to see if they're working.

Yes, the fans are working. It'll even happen if I have the fan full power (Fn+1). The strange thing is that if I immediately press Fn+1 when the machine boots up, the beeping starts almost instantly (you'd think it would keep the CPU or GPU cooler for longer), but let's say the beeping starts while the fans are normal, if I enable Fn+1 and then disable it, the beeping will stop for a bit.

Hi, please open up a support ticket on our site - I think we may need to RMA it.

Hi, did you ever try reseating the RAM? If not, please try that and let us know if it fixes the issue.

I reseated the primary RAM. The beeping and shutdown still occurred.

I'm not very comfortable accessing the secondary RAM slots.

I submitted a ticket regarding the overheating. Should I wait until tomorrow to receive an RMA authorization?

I'm convinced it's overheating because the shutdowns happen more frequently when the computer is still warm and less frequently when it's had time to cool. I don't think faulty or badly seated RAM would behave in such a particular fashion.

As far as removing the RAM under the keyboard, here's a video describing the process.

    An update:

MALIBAL emailed me the packing slip this morning to RMA the machine. I packed the notebook up (thankfully they send you an extra box in the one that's delivered) and took it to my nearby UPS store. UPS said MALIBAL should get it by Monday.

I noticed the packing slip had a City of Industry, California address. Is the machine then serviced in California and not Nevada?
