Hello, I'm so glad that i found this forum. I need some help. My relative sent me this laptop named G-tune from Japan around 1 month ago. I just started using it about 1 week ago. It has very noisy fan. It reaches about 72db (used an iphone 7 mic and sound meter app). and when i play 3d games like R6 siege, Dota 2 temps gets so hot. Cpu reaches about 95C, gpu 91C. I never used gaming laptop before. It made me worry. So i cleaned heat sink, fan, re-applied new thermal paste. After this CPU temp is still same but gpu temp reaches about 87C. I can't even find support site of this laptop. But i believe it's components are from Clevo. So what should i do to get rid of hot temps and loud fan noise? Custom bios? or new heat sink with fan? Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for terrible English.

Don't think there's anything you can do about the fans. They just get noisy.

What thermal paste are you using? Of course it depends on the ambient temperature as well, but while gaming my CPU temp is better than yours (80ish) with similar setup. You can undervolt the CPU by using software like ThrottleStop and Intel XTU. That helps reduce the temp by a bit.

And for the GPU, Kepler runs at a very high temp. Again, not much can be done really....

Thanks for reply. I don't think my room temperature is hot. Also it's winter in my country. I just googled about ThrottleStop and Intel XTU. I downloaded both of them. And i have no idea what am i looking at. How can i perform undervolt? Changing voltage of cpu can harm in any way? Like giving BSOD and some stuff like that? Also how much db reaches your fan noise?

Can gpu thermal pads help to reduce hot temp?

There are a couple of mods needed to get ok temperatures. You need to seal airgaps, get proper thermal paste or liquid metal and you need to undervolt the CPU.

What thermal paste did you use? And perhaps a bad paste? The temps aren't quite right to me if it's Winter in your country now.

You can refer to the below guides for the software. Use either one of the software to undervolt the CPU. Undervolting won't do any harm. If the undervolting is not stable (during heavy load like gaming), the PC simply gives BSOD. Rebooting the PC would reset the voltage back to default and you can then reduce the voltage offset until it gets stable.

I don't know the db of my fans. Haven't measured it before.

Thank you for reply. I think i should check for air gaps and get some decent thermal paste. I don't think there is any liquid metal selling in my country. Thank you again

I applied just a cheap chinese thermal paste. I'll buy better one like arctic cooling or cooler master's one. Thank you for provieded guides. I'll read that too. So in the end i have to deal with the fan noise i guess.

Once you get lower temps, the fans won't spin as fast as they do now.

The 870m was a fairly hot GPU, so it will always be skewed up.

Lifting up the laptop or using a stand helps too. Seal the gaps between fan and heatsink like mentioned previously is a good mod. If you are going to buy new paste then get something like Gelid GC-Extreme. Liquid metal will give you a bit better results, but you have to do your research to minimize accidents.

Liquid metal is also pickier about heatsink contact.

Thank you for thermal paste suggestions guys. Luckily my friend had an arctic silver 5 and gave it to me. I applied it and temperatures pretty stayed ok. Here is the picture of temp after applied. [IMG] Used msi afterburner to monitor temps. After playing r6 siege, pubg around 3 hours temparutes stayed pretty cool. But i noticed it depends on game. Like when i play PUBG cpu temp stayed around 65-70C, gpu 80ish. But when i play r6 siege cpu temp reached 82C max, gpu 88-90C. I think it's better than before.

Some games utilize the hardware more than others.

To get better CPU temps you can undervolt and seal airgaps with isolation tape. You can also find people like me who could make you a custom undervolted vBios for your GPU.

That's better, 90C is a little high but at the top edge of normal. @Danishblunt 's recommendations can get you a few more degrees for sure, so I'd recommend it, but now you have some more breathing room.

Ic diamond or thermal grizzly will take a little off too. AS5 has a curing time also so will improve a little over time.

No problem. Hope you can find some thermal compound in your country. Not sure why it is, but I keep hearing it's difficult to import. Odd since it doesn't really seem to be under any specific trade protection and is relatively inert.

These generation of cards can have the voltage table altered yes, if the core is stable it can help temps.

Ok guys after days of "HOT" gaming sessions @Danishblunt reached me through teamviewer and undervoltaged my "hot" gpu. Now it stays around 80C. Which is MUCH MUCH BETTER than playing on 92C. And fan was like a vacuum cleaner, like fighter jet about to took off, like a 3 hair dryer working at the same time. By the way i planning to order new gpu fans just in case. Thank you everyone. I'm so glad that i found this community.

The GPU fan is actually extremely powerful, you have to seal airgaps tho. Get some isolationtape and close all airgaps which happen between the heatsink and fan. It will cut extra few degrees of your temperatures.

While a spare does not hurt the fans tend to last pretty well.
