Hello folks, strange problem with my Malibal Satori; it will not start. Well, more specifically, every time I press the power button it runs for all of 2 seconds and then shuts off again. It does not even get to the BIOS screen, I hear the fans for about 1 second and then everything dies again. I have tried both on battery and AC power and same result; just 1-2 seconds of it seeming to start up and then death.

Specs are in signature. I've never overclocked or run any modded drivers. I did update the AMD drivers for my 6990 with Catalyst from AMD a few weeks ago but they worked fine so I don't think that caused this. I haven't noticed any other issues at all recently, this came completely out of the blue. Any ideas on what it cold be?

it seems that u should try to reset the CMOS, it s very easy, u can do that removing the keyboard (carefully to avoid breaking the cables below the keyboard itself) and unplug the battery for a few seconds, then plug it and try to restart the notebbok, once done u have to press the key to let the startup go on without entering the bios.

U can watch at some youtube ivdeos, it s very easy btw, good luck.

Check your RAM has not come loose, mine did that when I had not reseated the RAM correctly. Also check the HDD as the Primary drive is not bolted in and can come loose.

RAM like Yiddo mentioned could be the issue. If just reseating it all doesnt help try pulling them all then putting in back one at a time and try turning on the computer. It could be a bad stick of RAM or a bad RAM slot. Memtest86 is a free program you can also get to test the RAM sticks. If Memtest86 shows you errors run it with only one stick at a time so you can isolate which stick is giving errors.

I tried reseating and then only running one stick of ram and no change. The computer won't stay running long enough to allow me to run memtest so I don't think that will work unless I stick the ram in another computer or something like that. But I don't think it's the ram as I already tried reseating/using only one stick. Could it be the motherboard?

Could be the motherboard. I recently talked to a guy who had one bad RAM slot and if anything was in there it would not start at all. If there was RAM in the other slots it would be fine but that one slot would cause problems. The computer will have to be sent in if its a motherboard problem, i'd contact your reseller.

It sounds exactly like mine however and it was a connection problem. I also had something similar on my Acer when my DvD drive came loose and the same for the HDD. Check all hardware to make sure nothing is loose and shorting out the board.

Do not need to waste time anymore. I think the motherboard is dead. Please contact your reseller.
