Any news on making a new bios to handle the 1060 without nvidia inf modification?mafuba likes this. -
I didn't make v3 only for them, some other re-seller also sell their GPU upgrades with it.
v3b is also the old version for Maxwell as they never got the Pascal version due to no longer being a Prema Mod Partner.Last edited: Feb 5, 2018 -
for me this P170EM has lasted the test of timePrema likes this. -

Can you guy help me with the following question? I own a clevo P170SM and I would like to upgrade its GPU (Nvidia GTX 770m -> Nvidia GTX 1070). Since the tutorial needs to delete some folders in order of modifying the Nvidia drivers, could this changes affect significantly the GPU behavior for development purposes (using the GPU for deep learning like tensorflow) ending up wasting money?
-
I own a P170EM with a 680M and Premamod v2. My GPU seems to be broken (error 43 and I cannot fix it). On the Eurocom Page is written: " GTX 1060 can use the original GPU heatsink with no modifications but you would need to repaste thermal pads to match the new card layout"
Is that right? I can buy a 1060 and renew the thermal pads and I am fine? -
Sorry to post in such an old thread,...
But,...anyone lend me his p170em V2 or even better v3 prema mod BIOS?
Or tell me how to get it?
If I get my hands on one of those bioses I'd upgrade my clevo with a 1060, after I made sure I was able to flash the bios...
But buying a 1060 on Eurocom...
Just to get that bios....
I could buy a used laptop with a 1060 with the money they take for their upgrade kits..
Would be very thankful if someone still got one of those bioses and could hand them to me anyhow! -
I think have read every thread about Prema bios concerning the p170em.
I ve read about the guy who tried taking advantage of prema's work (exoc) (IRC).
And ppl modding prema's Prema Mods further and made tutorials, so Prema got trouble with the manufacturers, since many ppl bricked theirs notebooks and ran to their manufacturers to get help.
And seems like that's the why the Prema mod bioses aren't public anymore.
Also I have no clue how to contact Prema.
I subscribed for newsletters on premamod webpage, but that didn't helpg getting in contact with Prema..
The point for me is, that I bought a p170em around 2 years ago for around 350€ and would prefer investing around 300€ for a 980m or 1060 over buying a new laptop.
I know about the .inf driver modding. Thanks to the good tutorial on prema's homepage.
And about the cooling modding. (Copperplate or Dremel).
Gotta Dremel in the cellar waiting.
But without the bios mod I don't need to think about starting.
Would also buy the v3 mod (from Prema personally only) for a reasonable price.
I also prefer upgrading for the fun of managing it to get working. (Learning)
If I fail nevermind, **** happens.
Even if I don't get my hands on Prema mod bios...
... Thanks to all the guys making such nice tutorials and showing how it can be done!Last edited: Dec 30, 2019 -

Any chance I can get a V2 Prema BIOS Mod or even better a V3 Prema BIOS Mod for my p170em for a small donation? -

Hello, thank you origin17em for your tutorials on how to upgrade the video cards!
I've been out of tech for a while and I want to upgrade my older P170EM from a 7970m to a better card. I've read that nvidia 9xx and 10xx work as you have shown. I've also read that I may need different heatsinks and such and different thermal pads etc.. What is the procedure to upgrade from an amd card such as mine? Would it be easier to upgrade to mobile versions of newer AMD cards? -
Hi all, I'm new to this so forgive me if I'm asking some dumb questions. I've been reading through a lot of different threads, but I've been unable to pinpoint exactly what's causing my issue.
I'm looking to update my P170SM-A with an GTX 1060, and the card isn't being recognized by the BIOS (says VGA card unknown). Do I need to update and/or unlock my BIOS in order to make it work? The computer simply boots to a black screen unless I mash F2 to go into BIOS, so I can't even go into Windows and mess around with installing any drivers. I'm running Windows 10, by the way.
@Prema, do you think you could help me get my hands on a BIOS version that might fix my issue? Grateful for any help!
----Details from my current BIOS:
MB Series: P17SM-A
BIOS version: 1.03.02R LS1
KBC/EC Firmware Revision: 1.03.03
VGA Card: NV GeForce GTX 870M
P170EM & 1060 MXM - install, mods, nvidia inf mod (with photo)
