Hey guys, I have an ongoing issue that I have been dealing with for about a year, and I am starting to get fed up with it. I am really hoping someone else can provide some insight into the issue. I have a P170EM from Malibal with a Realtek RTL8188CE card in it. After random shutdowns and reboots (not every time, but around 50%) the computer will not see the wireless card at all. When this happens, the only thing I can get to fix it is to reinstall the drivers over and over, and then take out the battery, press the power button 50 or so times, and then turn it back on. It started after I installed Windows 8, so I thought a fresh install might fix it, but it did not. Any ideas on what could be happening? Thanks in advance!

If all else fails if you're under warranty have them just send you a new wireless card. They are simple to install.
If you're not under warranty they are cheap. You can get an 802.11AC intel card for around $25

If it still happens after all that your slot/MB may be bad :/ but hopefully just a faulty card.

I have experienced a similar problems as well. However, I have the RTL8723AE. Try installing the driver manually from device manager. It has worked for me for a long time.
    And btw. Hutsady:
For some reason you can't download wireless drivers from Realtek's website. I don't get why, and it is very annoying.

    Why not? I have before:
    Realtek <- Wireless drivers

You just got to get the right chipset and hop around to find things lol

Same thing here. It's not about the driver. It's like if the motherboard doesn't see the card and thus doesn't show it.

I have been living with this issue instead of buying a new card.

My issue can be solved each time through something like unninstalling the device in device manager, powering off and then on again (it's different from just rebooting, the motherboard turns off and on), and then it should be fine. If not, install the driver manually.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the link, but I can't find my card. I have the Realtek RTL8723AE. I don't get why it isn't there.
