The Malibal P170HM seems like a great deal but with the new P170EM coming I'm not so sure.

    The config:
    $135 OFF Any Configuration
    17.3" 1920 x 1080 FHD LED Backlit 120Hz 3D 72% NTSC Matte Display
    i7-2760QM, 6MB L3 Cache, 2.4-3.5GHz
    No RAM
    GTX 580M 2GB GDDR5
    500GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA 300
    6X Blu-ray Burner 8X DVD+/-R DL Super-Multi Drive
    Bigfoot Networks Killer™ Wireless-N 1103 802.11A/B/G/N LAN Card

This comes to $2,169 which is nice but I'm not sure if the update next month will be worth the price and wait. The 580m and display are my biggest hangups. Will the 675m be priced the same as the 580 or higher/lower? The cost for the updated displays will undoubtedly rise, but are they going to be significantly upgraded?

Lol, you are right. I guess I should know better, but I'm getting a little desperate and facing a lot of pressure from friends because I'm still rocking the Satellite A205.

It will be worth the wait, trust me. Still rolling with my old friend M1530. In the end it's your money and it's your laptop everything is all about, not your friends ;)

Join the club man, I have been waiting so long, I'm starting to think high end notebooks are a myth! Hang in there until at least April 5th when the NDA comes off imo.

    Depends on your situation.

If you CAN wait, then that's a prudent move. On the flip side, I needed a new notebook pronto - so I didn't have that luxury. There's some nice deals to be had right now, depending on what you're looking to configure. Either way, best of luck.

I wouldn't recommend giving into peer pressure. I would also recommend waiting for the refresh. You would be able to impress your friends with the newer model as opposed to explaining that you bought the older unit that may be out of date sooner as a result. :D

Thanks for the support, everyone. I wasn't sure if I was the only one dieing here. It is comforting to know that I won't be alone crying when they push the launch back another month. Ha ha, they would never do that though would they?

There are no plans on pushing dates back further at this time.

April should be a great month, stay tuned... ;)

I agree with everyone who has posted.

I would only buy right now if you absolutely NEED a new comp. If you can hold out another month I would HIGHLY suggest doing so. New Intel IB chips are going to smoke the SB chips. New GPU's etc.

The new Clevo's will also be coming in with backlit keyboards if that something your into> From what I've read this excludes the P151EM!

I for one am waiting on the refresh and have had the cash for my new system since January. The cash is burning a serious hole in my pocket but I believe it will be well worth the wait!

Also, SSD prices are dropping at a nice rate right now so having waited I've already saved ~$200 in the drives I want. :D

    Hang in there bud!

They're are NDA's that prevent them from showing all the details on the new systems. In a few weeks that should change.

    Definitely much much lower :D
Sagernotebook.com updated the config page for the P270WM today. The price dropped at least $600.00. The difference? New CPU (-$300) and 675m instaid of 580m. That's a huuuuuuuuge difference. You can get 675m SLI for +$450, and that includes a $195 AC adapter and converter box

Have any benchmarks been released comparing the 580m with the 670? Will the 670 undoubtedly be better than the 580 (for gaming)?

First post on NBR btw - brand new user :)

The 670M isn't and wont be stronger than the 580M when the 675M is a complete re-brand of the 580M model. So the answer is no :)

And just for the record, you can check it out here:
http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-580M.56636.0.html vs http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-675M.70785.0.html (they are equal as hell...)

So with the GTX 660m, would be better for price/performance correct because it is very close to GTX 570m, if not better. I am fine with that as all I play is WoW, Diablo, and SC2. Yep, I am Blizzard fan.

The 660M would be a little less performance than the 570M ( about 10% less )
but it should be much more efficient and better battery life.

Yup, but what pisses me off is the fact that the one Clevo laptop that it's in (P151EM) is the only one without a backlit keyboard. >.>

I'm going to assume you're talking about the 675m... and I'm also going to assume you didn't notice that that $450 is including a converter box and an extra power supply... The answer is that Nvidia is being very, very nice

    Basically, 560m < 660m < 570m = 670m < 580m = 675m <680m. 670m has a slight factory OC though, so at stock it will do a little bit better than 570m.

I bet the wait won't be much longer since Intel doesn't seem to be having issues like it did during their Sandy Bridge launch. I only hope NVIDIA has their stuff together and can supply enough stock in time.

I bet we'll see at least our builders offering the 660M in the 150em so users can have a backlit keyboard. Unless it turns out the the 670M doesn't cause a significant increase in cost, then you'll just have to pay up for the lit keys.

This x1million. I highly doubt Intel is going to let anything prevent IB from being a smooth release after the SB fiasco last year. I won't be buying till August so hopefully I can get the 680/7990 by then, but I hope that nVidia doesn't screw things up for those buying right at release.

Especially since there's literally nothing coming out of AMD at the moment. nVidia has a chance to snag an early lead if they can meet demand.
