    Hello everyone
Last week I spilled milk in my keyboard. I have let it dry but a lot of the keys are dead (e.g. backspace, a lot of numbers, G and so on).
I have no idea how a keyboard works, and how it is possible that only a few keys die. Is it motherboard or a keyboard issue?
I think that the cheapest solution is to buy an external keyboard, but I decided to write on this forum because I thought that you might have some suggestions.

    PS
Don't eat in front of your laptop.

    Kind regards
    Peter

I would just replace the keyboard and while you have it out check and clean anything else that might have gotten wet. You can try removing the keyboard and running it though the dishwasher, top shelf without any soap. Use a short hot water wash cycle without the lowest heat for drying. You have nothing to lose doing that. Just make sure it is 100% dried out before installing it again. Let it sit a day or two, then use some compressed air to confirm no water drops are coming out of it anywhere.

I don't see any excellent prices on eBay for this particular model [ LINK] and all of the sources are Chinese. I would compare prices from a Clevo reseller first to see how much (if anything) you stand to save buying something on eBay.

Sorry to hear about the problems. For a short term fix an external would work, and it could be your permanent fix if you do not move the computer around much.
I would suggest getting a replacement keyboard, which you can by contacting your original reseller. They should sell them individually. I would not think its a motherboard issue, if it were then the computer probably would not be working at all.

Milk may have made it's way to the motherboard. The only way to tell would be to remove the keyboard, and perhaps the top assembly also. In any case, your keyboard will almost certainly need replaced. You can inquire with your reseller as to whether you can purchase a keyboard standalone or not, but they may want the entire laptop in to replace the keyboard (while it's with them, they can inspect the board for you for liquid damage, at least).

    Hmmmm. Weird.
Today the computer could not even boot up. I noticed that a couple of days after I spilled the milk, but I thought it was because it wasn't dry enough. Now it has happened again, but if I wait a couple of hours it can probably boot again. I don't know what to make of it.

    By the way,
thank you for your answers. I appreciate it!
Today the G-button started working. Now it is only backspace that does not work, but it probably never will again :/.
Furthermore I discovered that by hitting "enter" a few times it boots normally. Strange.

It sounds like your motherboard took some of the spill, too. The damage may only make these idiosyncrasies worse over time. :(
