    I wouldnt touch it as all video output goes through the integrated card.

    As Kevinmcg mentioned, the dGPU goes through the iGPU then out to the monitors, turning that off could stop all output.

    Just for fun I had a play around with those settings but yes due to the PCB routing you wont get very far.

    (I always like to check what I tell people to make sure it is correct even if I am almost certain it is correct)

    So it's not a BIOS/Software, it's hardware fixed switchable graphics.

    Yes the displays are directly routed to the intel graphics. With bios mods you can turn off the intel chip but then the dedicated card has NO display connections going to it, internal or the ports.

    Alienware allow the displays to be routed to the dedicated card (the cost being that every port (including the internal) has to be muxed).

    This is also why you can't run the 3d internal displays in notebooks in optimus mode as they use a different port which is not muxed.
