Are there any resellers that offer a 120hz high gamut panel for this model?

Would the 120hz panel have any benefit besides 3D effects--such as displaying more than 60 fps?

120hz make 3D 60hz, good for you eyes. I cannot feel any different between 40fps and 60 fps.

We dont have them yet but hope to add them back on like the NP8170 had. The 3D screens were a 72% gamut. It also ran at 120hz in 2D mode so it could go up to 120fps as long as the rest of your hardware will support it.

    Hi all,
I don't want make a new thread, so I will ask my question here (sorry about that)

I have P170em, my configuration is:
    -2920xm
    -670mx gtx
    -2x4gb Kingston HyperX 1600

Now I make long story short - because my son damage my screen I decide upgrade my laptop to 3D display , I purchase 50pins screen cable from P170HM3 and screen from ebay 3D HP Envy 17 1000 Clevo P370EM NP9370 120Hz LCD Matte 17 3" LP173WF2 TP B2 | eBay
Of course I have 3D vision kit, anyway when I assembled everything together I was very surprised - when I press the power button, nothing showed up on the new laptop screen :(
I checked everything twice, all connections was ok, after I power up my laptop again, I still had no display on new screen. I quick swap displays and connect my smashed screen with 40 pins screen cable and I had post picture on broken screen.
Can you give advice, what is wrong please?

    Kind Regards
    Tomasz

Guys, finally I had that new display with 50 pins screen cable, almost fully working. I connected up that set on my sons laptop. He has Clevo P170HM with 485m GTX. Now, I can display 1920x1080 with 120 Hz on his laptop, but I can't unlock 3D option on the NVidia Panel. I can get that option only when I connect the external screen and of course I can only have an 3D picture on my External Screen(monitor). Is it possible that the problem causes the not dedicated 3D IR from 3D vision kit. I don't have an dedicated 3D IR in my sons laptop.

Any help to get that screen working on my P170em please?

    Kind Regards
    Tomasz

It's a licensing issue, the nvidia control panel only unlocks the option if it recognises all the right hardware IDs for each part (vbios, emitter, screen).

When you say you have it working in yours what do you mean?

Meaker - thank you very much for your respond, I mean that I borrow my son screen from P170HM with 40pins to my P170EM and that the only one display witch is working on my P170EM. In my son laptop (P170HM) new 3D screen with 50pins cable work fine, in my P170EM wont work at all. I try install his 485m GTX on my laptop but still the same - 3D display is not working on my laptop. Before I purchased my new 3D display I called to UK Clevo and they told me that I need 50 pins cable and I should get working 3D display on my P170EM? Any idea why that 3D display not work on my P170EM. Last question: UK Clevo don't have in stock 3D IR with wire - where I could buy that set?

    Kind Regards
    Tomasz

The intel igp does not support the 120hz display sorry. This is why the em series never got the 120hz panel. Hopefully the series after the current ones will get it back (broadwell not haswell refresh).

Hmm that very strange, I was always think that P170em will support 3D because P370em3 support 3D. The P370EM3 and P170EM use the same chipset on mainboard witch is HM77... It's looks like I was wrong :)
I don't know if that will any different but I use in my P170em 2920mx...

The 370EM does not use optimus so the Nvidia chip directly controls the display outputs while in the 170EM the intel chip handles the display outputs using the optimus system.
