It works, no problem. Do you use the 3D or non 3D version? It looks like you use the 3D version...you will have to cross-flash the GTX675M with the GTX580M vBIOS to keep the 3D feature...

Always a good idea to fully update these before upgrading as it gives you the best odds.

Flash the vbios on the card? I have a gtx675 now (and will have it working when I find the modded inf for it)...but how do I cross-flash the vbios?
Can you link the files and give me a little clue as to how to do it ?

    Ressurecting thread.

I have a p170hm3 (3d version). Just double checking that the 675m will work? My seller says the driver may need a small adjustment which he will help me with, but otherwise he claims the card will work fine in my hm3.

Can any kind expert here corroborate that the 675m will indeed work on my hm3? I don't use the 3d feature so I assume I won't have to "crossflash the vbios with a 580m" as Prema mentions above.

EDIT: Also can get a 7970, but can that work on the 3d p170hm?

675M is technically a 580M just under a different name, so chances are it could work :)

Ha, thanks for the tentative recommendation Jaybee. The 675m is an MSI card, but seller says it will work fine in a clevo with a simple driver modification.

As to the 7970 in the 3d 170, I'll post this from another forum from Prema to warn any later onlookers:

A DellAMD card won't work in a Clevo no matter what vBIOS. It uses a different thermal sensorwhich the Clevo EC can't read which in return results in a thermal shutdown.
Also only the old 7970M Clevo cards work in HM shells, the newer ones even with correct vBIOS result in a permanent driver crash.

That's their guess rather than solid information. Performance increases will be in line with stock clock increases.

@amenda: that info concerning the 7970M is correct, make sure to get urself a v1.2 revision of the card (and definitely a clevo model!), revisions v1.1 and v1.0 will not work on HM models :)
