I have an old 6770m lying around collecting dust. It has no ROM chip, so when I place it into my P170HM, I get no boot. I was wondering if it was possible to integrate the vbios of this card into the system bios "sbios" of the Clevo. It's been done with Acer laptops, so it should be possible with a Clevo. Any 6770m vbios should work as long as it's not Apple as those have lockouts. It's a BIOS mod really. Same way you guys have gotten a 680m working in these wonderful machines. Soldering isn't an option as the ROM chip for this card is extremely rare, and I have no idea on how to solder![]()

Pic related is the exact card. As you can see, no ROM chip. The chip is supposed to go on that little memory icon on the bottom right. The VBIOS to the card is in this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...eed-help-to-get-it-work-on-acer-7738g.712673/ Valuxin's OP has it. HP Aerosmith Whistler XT whatever it's called. lol aerosmith

Ps a gpu without vbios is cactus.
Why don't you buy a cheap 6990 card or a 7990 or 680m?
This way you have a proper working gpu and it has vbios chip soldered onto pcb. -
I have a dead 6990m which came with the system that needs a reball. I'm highly considering getting it reballed, but at this point I'm posting from an old Dell latitude with a Pentium M! It's horrible.
Is there any way to make the 6770m card usable? I swear, Valuxin does bios integration mods with ROMless MXM cards onto Acer laptops. I don't see how it's not possible on a Clevo. -

Will a 6770m work even with a vbios? Double check with prema if you like but I don't think it will.

Yes but this is a clevo/sager and the version with non standard MXM handling (speak to prema for more precise details). The 6770M does not work in my P570WM for instance.
P170HM ROMless 6770m? vBIOS integration?
