Hey. Im looking to replace my current Seagate Momentus XT in Raid 0 with Samsung 840 SSD and i have a question: can i put one of the drives in dvd drive caddy and have RAID 0 with second seagate? HWinfo is showing me that dvd sata conection is only 1,5 Gb/s. Will it work?

The optical bay is SATA II but most optical drives run at SATA I speeds as they don't need the extra bandwidth. Yes raiding will be fine, they will both operate in SATA II mode and that's fine for any mechanical drive.

No, the controller should recognise the raid set and work as normal. You would only have issues moving to a system with a non-intel (or old intel) raid controller.

By the way, how have you found the XT in raid 0? I have heard a few problems with them as they were not designed to be run that way.

I am pretty sure that the newest firmware release has fixed it, several updates were reported across several forums :)

Hm, never had any problems with them. System was booting same fast as on one XT (i took only one for start, later added second) but games (BF3, Witcher 2) they loaded faster than on one. Do u want any specific data?

I believe it was the .11 firmware version that was experiencing problems. They updated to .12 sometime last year, from what I can recall.
