    Hi all,

I have a question regarding my old (1 year old) P170HM model. It has a GTX 485m in it and i just checked the tempratures and i was a bit shocked. I didn't turn on this laptop for 1 and half month by now (because i don't game much those days) and i just fired it up today and updated AIDA64 first. Then i checked the tab sensors and saw my GPU VRM is @ 92c (at first boot). I keep monitoring it and idle it stays @ 92c and when i play a game it also stays @ 92c. My question would be, is my sensor dead ??? and if yes what can i do about it ? (i still have 1 year warranty).

Edit: After 1 hour the temps are the same + playing a game is also not a problem. The temprature just sits there as 92c. :(

try a different software to measure your temps.

Im using a desktop gadget named GPU Observer! Its very small and nice!
Shows your GPU clocks, fan speed and temp!
    DOWNLOAD IT!!!

Thanks for your info, the problem is not the GPU temp but the GPU VRM temp (gpu ram). No matter what i do (idle or play a game) the temprature stays @ 92c.

Well, maybe the sensors are off by an awful lot.

The gadget measures VRM temps also (where available).
    Just checked its settings.

Will check it out tommorow, i just tested it again and here are some screens with AIDA64 again. I think the VRM sensor is dead because 2-3 months ago it worked fine in AIDA64 (i always used that software to see my temps). I even tested older builds from AIDA64 wich i saved but the results are the same. :(

    Hi,

I tested it and the temps are the same as AIDA64. The GPU VRM still sits there in 92c :(.

I don't think it would be possible to have your laptop sent in for repairs unless there is a real issue with your laptop that is preventing it from being operational (artifacting, BSOD, etc).

Well i tested a game for 10 minutes to see if the temps would go up after that i didn't test it much to see BSOD or artifacting.

Will test that out later today (1-2 hour gaming would do).
