Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find anything with the search. Today I tried to power on my P170HM and it won't turn on. It is plugged in and the LEDs on the front are both orange. When the power button is pressed, the right LED flashes green, off, green, off, then solid orange. No lights, fans, etc. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    I see you've encountered the crummy-search function.

Someone with an PH150HM posted a similar problem a few days ago. http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/600972-p150hm-wont-boot-2.html

My advice was to disconnect from AC and the battery and press the power button for 30 seconds or so. Then try powering it on.

Also, you can try plugging it into the AC without the battery.

You can also try removing the CMOS battery for a minute, then reinserting it and trying again.

That's the best I can do without a list of blink-codes.

Thanks for the reply. The first 2 methods didn't work, but I did try to remove the CMOS battery. Now the computer seems to boot, but the screen is not powered on.

Can you hook it up to an external display to see if there's any video signal?

Also, does the screen backlight come on?

Sounds exactly like what my EON17-s (also a P170HM) is doing...

Mine is on it's way to Origin's repair depot in Miami first thing tomorrow morning.

I'm starting to wonder if something is going on with these machines. Jacob, the Origin tech I'm working with said he's had a few calls regarding this issue. Another user in the forums here reported the same behavior with a P150HM.

Just seems kindof odd... Hope there isn't some component problem somewhere. I already miss my EON and it hasn't even left the living room yet!

Mine was purchased from Malibal. I think the problem with the nothing showing on the screen may have been RAM related. I removed one module and it booted perfectly. I then re-sat the module and everything seems to be OK.

Was it memory that you added afterwards or the stock memory? I've seen others on here having issues with a few third party brands of RAM- it'd be useful to see which people are having issues with.

Also since there were display issues in both cases - what video card do you have, Orgetorix? Is it the 485m, same as Denver?

While not the likely culprit, more data the better :) Heck, why not post your specs!

The memory was one of the stock PC3-12800/1600Mhz DIMMs. I have the 485M as well.
