    Hey guys!

I have posted this thread over in the gaming section but i am not sure if some of you here head that way so im also posting in here if thats ok...

So I received my RJtech 680m, and fitted it in my P170HM3 (replaced my 580m)

Works a treat!! well sort of.... as in it posted fine, and booted to windows, (no display drivers installed)

However when i install 304.79 drivers with a custom INF (from say laptopnut) which works fine for him and other members using a P170HM (non 3d 120hz), but for me it does not (as i have 120hz?)

It installs fine, and boots to windows, however my laptop screen is blank...now an external display works fine! I tested the card and it is a absolote machine! (scored P6079 3d mark 11 no oc compared to 3700 on my 580m) but its just a pain obviously having to run on an external display...

Now i know this 680m is not supported in the HM series, and what not, and i took a gamble, but I was wondering if anyone has any clues/ideas that might help me get the internal display to work again?

My 680m Hardware ID according to device manager is:

    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_00001558&REV_A1
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&SUBSYS_00001558
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&CC_030000
    PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_11A0&CC_0300

Any help is much appriciated guys!!

    Thanks!

Does this laptop have switchable graphics? I have seen a similar problem with a p150em where reinstalling the intel VGA driver helped. Can you boot to safe mode using the internal display?

The HM series is not switchable , open up event viewer if you can and see if it says anything from nvidia about failed to initialize display

Hey killerinstinct, i was unable to see anything in the event viewer that relates to nvidia or failing toinitialize display.

    Use this driver as base:

    Serv-U

If that doesn't do use the Alienware 17x r4 3D NVIDIA driver as you base.

There should not be any in a correctly modified inf. All you are doing is changing the hardware ID's to match your ones.

Since you are changing settings that are meant for a GTX 680M, there shouldn't be any difference at all.

I noticed higher benchmark results in my modified .inf compared to one on laptopvideo2go for the same Driver version though.

Thanks guys for the responses, unfortunatly nothing seems to have worked, without a bios update, it seems the P170HM3 and 680m will not work.

Did you try 302.77 driver. 304.79 has issues with the 680M

Ive tried tons of drivers including that 302.77, unfortunately it does not seem to be a driver related issue

    Thanks guys :)

Did you mod your drivers yourself? it´s very easy.
At least open-up the nvdm.inf and check if your hardware id is associated with the 680M line. IF you have trouble hit me with a pm i´ll do a package for you.

No one has done it succesfully yet, i think some one needs to make a custom vbios to make it work, otherwise you are pretty much sol.
