Have you checked your temperatures? Cleaned out the heatsinks? Tried repasting?

What are your temps at, it could be doing so for a reason.

If you have never cleaned it out, following Meakers advice is the first thing you want to do if you haven't.

You can also try Fn + 1 (not F1) to toggle on/off max fan.

After two years of ownership, the prevailing wisdom here about checking the paste and cleaning out the fans and heat sinks makes sense. Have you checked your temps and tried using the FN + 1 toggle for the fans?
