First off I'd like to apologize if I'm not posting in the correct section or with the correct formatting. I've been lurking for some months now and decided to make my first post today.

It is my understanding, after doing some poking around in this forum that these models will be soon phased out by Clevo. What is replacing them, and where has that been officially stated? I can't seem to find anything like that on Google; it always points back to this topic.

    With love,
    Burger

Edit: I thought I should add that my attraction to this model was the level of upgradability that it offered. From what I can tell, this model was given a solid few years of upgrading options. I'm new to Clevo and what they have to offer so if someone can point me in the right direction of what platform is going to offer a few years of upgrades, then that would be greatly appreciated.

The P15xSM and P17xSM sort of have been phased out in favor of the P15xSM-A and P17xSM-A . The -A suffix essentially denotes the upgrade from the 800M series graphics card to the 900M series. The current P15xSM-A/P17xSM-A models will be around until there is a refresh - which is somewhat nebulous at the moment.

You are right at looking at Clevo for being the best for upgrades. The P170SM/P150SM are going to be some of the best models for upgrades (and what ever else might replace them eventually). Not many brands offer the option to upgrade CPU and GPU, as well as having easy access to do the upgrades. Aside from that, the P770ZM/P750ZM also have a good amount of upgrade options similar to the ones you are looking at, with upgradable desktop CPU and GPU.

When is the last time a non-SLI Clevo could update to a new GPU generation?

Thank you. You have been helpful.

That's good to hear. My interested in the P170SM/P150SM has been rekindled. That brings me to my next question, though; can I order one of these with a 4710MQ and still upgrade it later?

    With extra pickles,
    Burger

The P170EM/P150EM originally came with 600M/7970M and can be upgraded to 8970M/M290X and 900M. The P17xSM/P15xSM originally came with 700M/8970M and can be upgraded to 800M/M290X and 900M.

Any news/rumours on the next release of 15'' laptops? (not revision, new model)

I doubt they'll be replacing the P650SA and P750ZM after just one release. Expect them to be refreshed with new parts.

Exactly, the ZM are for those who like to tinker and replace while the thing SA models are for those who want power and maximum portability. They are very relevant so expect refreshes.

    Thank you for replying.

Why can't I seem to find a 177SM anywhere? Every website I've tried says they are unavailable. Does Clevo no longer offer this model?

Intel wont be making socketed 5xxx series mobile CPUs so no update, sager/clevo has not been left with a choice.
