After owning a malibal p170em for 1.5ish years with no regrets fate interevened. Dual Sport = totaled, broken collarbone, fractured ribs, and somehow the laptop still works. At first I was thinking of getting a whole new system, but after taking the laptop apart it seems like all I need is a new p170em case and monitor. Motherboard seems fine. I can boot up no problem as long as the hdmi is plugged into the tv to see what I'm doing.

My reason for this thread is the that I'm having trouble finding someone to quote me for a new case, monitor, and motherboard (worst case scenario).

Do all the resellers just sell whole units? Insurance is covering costs of the accident (after damn deductible), so there is some flexibility on if I should buy new or fix the old one. Any information or help is much appreciated

Resellers typically do yes. Sager should be able to source you parts.

You can also try getting parts directly from Malibal.

Sager may sell them to you as Meaker mentioned but usually wont unless it was built from a Sager barebones. Sager and Malibal quit doing business together before you got your computer from Malibal.

Resellers generally will not provide parts alone. You can sometimes get it serviced by a reseller even if you didn't purchase from them, but that's hit or miss depending on company policy as well.

You will have better luck in outright parts purchases through either Sager or Malibal, or possibly an independent seller/vendor.

First off - a speedy recovery and may the bones heal quickly.

Secondly - get a new system if the insurance allows it. There should be 5-10% more performance with the current lineup. And you can use the old laptop as a home machine hooked to your TV permanently.
Hell, you can even sell it for some $, even on parts (some people may need your working mobo and stuff).
