I have the P170SM. I just raised they back of mine up and let the internal fans do what they need to.

We offer a similar model and have not had any complaints. A lot of people seem to like the Notepal coolers by CoolerMaster as well, as the fan configuration is customizable. :)

Typically the benefit comes from raising the machine up at the back. So get one that's adjustable and you like the look of.

That looks nice. Try it with fans on and off and see how much it affects the reported temps.

Also try to clean out your heatsinks and laptop fans every few months since you have the hairy dog.

fans and fins get a monthly clean :) the screws are getting a little worse for wear i have to very carefull now with the tiny silver screws that hold on the fan cover. and i will do a controlled test with set AC temp and AC off @ room temp and then with normal ceiling fan to get a good idea of the U3 performance

If you ever inadvertently strip the screws, you can use a rubber band to fill in the gaps; place it between the screw head and the screw driver, depress, and give it a turn. It should catch. :) (You'll want to replace the screw though at some point if they get bad enough to warranty this.)

Hopefully you like the new pad!

You can always contact your reseller for screws, they should be happy to send you a couple.

Wow could a cooling pad get any fancier? Honestly, having used at least 5 different cooling pads through the years, nothing beats the adjustable fans of the Notepal U3. And if you're not too concerned about structural deformation, you could use the laptop with the back cover off, that's an instant -10C right there.

Or hook it up to an external LCD, take the back cover off and turn it upside down, then blast cold air at it with a fan for maximum cooling.

Opening the machine and cleaning out the fans is a user serviceable activity according to clevo.
