    Sources Info:

This section will be for updates provided by various sources who have asked to be anonymous:

    - The reason there was nothing about Clevo from Cebit was that they had their display set up at a local hotel that was not open to the public. This was due to something about the NDA with Intel.

    - Final samples were handed out to distributors and resellers this week.

    - P370EM: There will be a successor to the P180HM. It's going to be a 17", supporting Ivy Bridge and dual GPU's, colored similarly to the P150EM, but smaller in size than the P270WM. More info about this model is coming! One source says they are one of the first to be getting this model in their hands. Will update you all when I know more.

    - Clevo will be making an Ivy Bridge All-In-One. The source that named this one referred to it as a possible iMac Killer!

    - W150ER (and submodels) will be updated to include a second HD slot.

    - All models will have:
    ~ TI firewire
    ~ Improved Speakers
    ~ Improved Touch Pad
~ A new monitoring software that supposedly will be "replacing all other you might need". It will cover the sound, graphics, battery, keyboard, etc.

There's some interesting stuff in there.

    - The new Fn + Esc control center seems cool.
    - I think the touchpad buttons are not a rocker, but just back to being the way they were with the M860TU. Flush and invisible.

Typo = It's supposed to say Models A & C for the XM CPUs and the GTX 675M.

Model B lacks a backlit keyboard, P151EM will be disappointing if that's what Model B is. The pictures shown have the old style P150, really strange.

Wait, with no mention of other GPU's, might these be the only options that Sager provides?

You may recall a few months back I for one announced that the backlit keyboard option would be on SELECT models. Not all models. Sorry. :(

now thats odd....just read through the manual and it says that model C (17 inch with 220W PSU, thus successor to P170HM) would NOT support the XM cpus and only be offered with a 670M instead of a 675M. whereas model B (120W PSU) would be offered with both. major typo going through the whole manual? :p

in the manual it says that model A and B feature a secondary hard disk module which is interchangeable the optical CD/DVD device. that means they come with caddys? also Model C has room for two hdd in raid.

Well the manual is out now, so I guess I can cover all the major hits:

The P150EM (Old P150HM) is the Model A, will support the full line of CPU's, will have a backlit keyboard, same 180W adapter, will launch with either the 670M (Rebadge 570m) or 675m (Rebadge 580m) (Both are options) there may or may not be a AMD to go with that..

The P151EM is the Model B, yes there is a typo, it will NOT support the full line (No XM's) CPU's, Will NOT have a backlit keyboard. Will launch with the 670m only.

The P170EM is the Model C, its the 17" besides that its the same as the P150EM.

    ALL Models will have RAID
The P150/151 will (And always has had) the option for a caddy, but it will still be SATA2 in the optical caddy. The P170 will be SATA3 in both slots.

ALL Models will have mSATA spots, that will be SATA2, and not RAID'able with the other parts of the system.

ALL Models will have displayport on them, and they all should be able to drive 3 monitors (Not Confirmed).

    ALL Models will have Optimus.

Ok, this is a longshot but I'm hoping. Since these laptops have iGPUs as well as dGPUs, they can do Optimus. I am wondering however whether the resellers can screw around with the installed software (i don't actually know what optimus requires) and maybe put in an AMD power management option as well (I think it's Power Express?)?

I'd prefer to go with an AMD GPU as they seem to be less $$/performance, but as a student if it would mean sacrificing Optimus technology I would probably have to stick with NVidia.

The AMD version is Switchable Graphics, and it SHOULD support it, but it will require slightly different drivers, and until we get the final shells in, can't confirm it for sure.

Don't have the first quotes back, and we also don't have final dates/pricing from Intel, so nope can't give you final pricing. But we are forcasting that its going to basically be the same pricing as when the last generation launched. Which the prices got a little cheaper over the year.

Just like the last generation, its the same basic motherboard, BUT slightly different because it enables the eDP port NOT the LVDS port. So different board? No, different BIOS however.

THX, so the same board enables eDP & LVDS ports, just depending on bios?

The P170 was the same way. It had both ports on the board, now I'm not 100% sure but yea just depends on the BIOS.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm trying to decide if the price jump is going to be significantly higher than what the p150hm's have been the last few months. Do refreshes usually cause a large jump in price? It almost seems like everyone is trying to sell whatever stock is left over before the launch and I hope that means the new models won't be too much more expensive.

I wish I would have joined this website sooner and observed the trends. Unfortunately, a year ago my computer was running fine and I didn't think of it, but now it's rapidly going down hill and I'm scrambling.

I bought my NP8170 at the start of last gen. The base config (no OS) was 1,389.00, w/ i7-2630QM, 4GB RAM, and GTX 460M.

    Upgrades:

+200 for the high gamut LCD
    +245 for the 6970M
    +120 for the Blu-ray drive
    +90 for Windows 7

My total was $2044 + $28 for shipping, and it was knocked down to $2,009.84 shipped because of the fact that I got 3% off for paying cash (back when you could do Paypal echeck).

So even without the screen and BRD, making any GPU upgrade + OS will probably bring you right up to the $1.7k mark.

I'd be more than happy with a 7970m + 1080p matte screen (which probably won't be $200 anymore).

Great stuff. I just hope the speaker system got improvement over the previous models.

I tried to configure the p150hm and p151hm a few months back (around Black Friday). If I remember correctly, the p151hm was about 1050+ and p150hm 1250+, and the p170hm was always $100 more the p150hm. So maybe these new models will have similar price range. Who knows.

did i get that correctly? ALL models support RAID? so P151EM / P150EM would be able to make a RAID between a SATA2 HDD in ODD caddy and the regular SATA3 HDD bay? that would be quite neat! adding the XTU support this gen seems to get better by the moment :p

Is there any possibilities for the P151EM to offer Sandy Bridge in addition to the Ivy Bridge? I actually want the P151HM but it has been phased out in most places. Malibal still offers the P151HM but only with 95% gamut screen which I don't want, because of the price and more importantly the red tint that people have mentioned.

I wouldn't mind waiting for the P151EM, but I will only be in the US for 1 month in April and Ivy Bridge may be delayed till June, so I may not have the chance to buy the computer. If P151EM does come with Sandy Bridge then there may be a higher chance of seeing it in April. The dilemma is killing me. Should I just ignore the red tint problem with the 95% gamut screen and buy it now before it is phased out or wait?

Thank You Prema. Even if it does support SB, there is not confirmation that it will be offered by Clevo/Sager. I had checked out Mythlogic before I made my post. Mythlogic's price is higher than what was offered at Malibal and Xotic. Also I don't see an option for no branding which is something that I prefer.

You can ask if they offer no branding? Just because its not an listed option doesn't mean thay can't do it.

If we can get the new shells BEFORE Intel releases the IVB processors then we will offer them with Sandy Bridge. All depends on when Clevo finishes the re-tooling and gets going on production.

For no branding, we can do that just ask =) We can do a lot thats not on our configurators, we can't put it all up there or it would be 25 pages lol.

the manual said that there actually IS a choice to include the fingerprint reader and thus have the usual two button touchpad as is now the case with the P1xxHM series :)

    Sorry, quoting myself.

Anyway, the 3D version of the P170EM will be a slightly different beast in that it WONT have optimus on it, it will be directly wired like the HM. So it will be a different motherboard totally.

I know I'm looking like a noob with this question, but...

Do these machines include the new nvidia Kepler GPU's? I'm buying a new laptop this year and since I need it to last 4 years at least, I plan on waiting for Ivy Bridge and the new Kepler cards. Are the Kepler cards the 'rebranded' 670M? Why call them rebranded if that's the case?

From all our information the 670 and 675 are Fermi NOT Kepler, now you don't see a 680m which could be Kepler, so right now they are rebranded but have an obvious hole in their lineup.
