Notice this would make the 765M a 128bit card....

I'm not seeing what can be gained by releasing details slightly earlier and risking a very important relationship.
-
Note how there is "GPU Mode" LED Indicator. Is that what I think it is? FN+F7 for Clevo O:
-
Also you guys seem to be getting Creative sound (at least software), no more having to buy an external sound card
Looking like Clevo aren't making the same mistakes as before! Looking good for y'all -

Msi indicate which gpu but do not have manual switching. The bios lists no option.
-
Definitely wait until next year, maybe they will have manual switching for GPU. -

don't know if it's posted or not.
But I still prefer the P150 old look, more professional and sleek. -

Because they want to give people the option if they want the extra weight too.
-
i understand that, but theyre only offering the two storage bays on the flashy looking model, not on the classic one...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes but the weight is in part the modified casing allowing it to fit.
-
I'm disappointed they did not bring back the Fn+5 Enhanced Audio hardware feature from the P170HM. If that means the built in speakers are still going to be as bad as they were on the EM series, I might be looking at an MSI this go around.

Basically, this XiFi MB3 is just a rebrand/new version of THX TruStudio. Because, you know, most people by now know that TruStudio does (hint: nothing substantial if hardware is not good), so now its time to roll out new name which reputation is not ruined yet. -
We know it's bad ingvarr but according to a lot of people, the trustudio does a lot of difference on the P370EM compared to not having it on. You're still looking through the standards of an audiophile XD. Just because it still relatively stinks, doesn't mean it's not better than not using it.
But either way, I don't know how the audio is or will be in those machines. I haven't heard people complain too much about the P370EM's audio except to say that it lacks bass. -
I am not saying that this software does not do *anything*. For example, for Clevos its used to achieve proper crossover, so you won't be getting functional subwoofer without it.
I was mainly referring to sneaky tactics of putting "THX" or "Sound Blaster" label on something that in fact uses 0% of Sound Blaster hardware, but ordinary (and sloppily implemented) Realtek codec, like any other 3x times cheaper laptop. The intention is pretty clear - to trick customers on thinking that some kind of Creative soundcard is inside. Same as with this "Onkyo" label. -
Honestly I would rather Clevo dedicate the space necessary for a subwoofer on a notebook for either better cooling/airflow, or extra hardware capacity like mSATA. If I want good sound playback I hook up my notebook to my receiver or my 2.1 channel computer sound system. I always find it amusing when people (not directed at Ingvarr) negatively critique a notebook's (or monitor/LCD TV's) lacking sound system. It shouldn't be a selling point of the device, and I agree with Ingvarr in that manufacturers shouldn't try to make it such by means of deceptive marketing. The fact of the matter is that if you want high quality sound reproduction with any computer or console then you will have to invest in an aftermarket system or decent headphones. To me the speakers that come with a new notebook, desktop, LED TV, or monitor should be just enough to get by, and I would rather pay a premium for my own aftermarket sound system and not for the speakers that come with the device. Manufacturers should focus their attention on other selling points and not waste money on subwoofers and high quality speakers because to many of us it won't make a difference. I know everyone has different needs but as long as the OEM speakers work it doesn't make a difference to me.

I had a ThinkPad W701, it had no subwoofer at all, just two usual small stereo speakers and Realtek codec. But I'd prefer its sound over Clevos any time - the speakers lacked bass, but output was very clear (especially for voice) and no resonance/vibrations. Also audio jack output was amazingly clean - I never actually needed external card with it (for headphones at least). When I opened it, I realized why - they had separate small "audio board", which was in the opposite corner of the case to the mainboard, removing it from noise sources.
For me it was an example of proper sound for laptop - nothing over the top. And Lenovo didn't try to lure consumer with fancy audiophile labels on case. In fact they barely mentioned sound output in specs at all. -
I can understand the dissatisfaction with the whole marketing thing. It's like HP Beats Audio. It's pure marketing and doesn't really offer anything above average for a consumer. But as "bangbangplay" stated, stock speakers should be adequate, and I've found the Clevo speakers to serve their purpose for general computing and gaming even. But if I want better audio I just throw on some headphones. I'm not saying it can't / shouldn't be improved, just that Clevo's speakers weren't designed for the audiophile.
-
If you did read my previous posts, I can't "just throw on some headphones" with Clevo, because with EM I hear too much of electrical noise on the audio output jack, and with HM I had very very poor bass (on line output jack, with good headphones and THX software). This is NOT excusable for 1.5K+ laptop, this is sloppy quality issues, plain and simple.
I had to throw in some headphones PLUS an external sound card. -
780M is just a 680M rebrand right?
-
-
-
Shader counts have not been confirmed yet.
-
EDIT:
Think undervolted GTX680MX + Turbo Boost 2.0 (1536 shader) -
-
If you want high quality sound reproduction you'll have to amplify it externally. As for the noise you may have some internal or external interference, or maybe your master volume is too high in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Have you tried the digital signal from the HDMI port? You'll have to hook it up to a monitor, TV, or receiver/mixer to try it. Im sure that will be a clearer signal with superior shielding. -
The electrical noise is caused by Clevo done a half-assed job, plain and simple. This kind of issue is unique to EM, it wasn't that bad in HM. HM had another problem though - it produced almost no bass on low-impedance (small) headphones.
I didn't want "high quality" sound reproduction. I just wanted bloody GPU&CPU not to produce screeches in headphones, so I wouldn't have to take extra USB sound card with me when I am travelling. I think its reasonable to expect from high price range/gaming laptop. -
-
I don't get you point. Are you saying its unreasonable to be upset with hearing GPU noise on audio output jack from "mere" 2000$ laptop, I must have paid at least 2500$?
I'd get MSI, but its more heavy, with second HDD bay I don't need, also single fan cooling is noisy and causing throttling issues with powerful cards. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
My 1033mhz GPU clocks that are stable in crysis 3 disagree Ingvarr
The MSI is maybe a touch noisier but it is more effective.
