I spent the last three days trying to figure out why in the world I was getting under 20 FPS on my modded Skyrim sometimes and great FPS at other times. Finally just last night I realized that when I had my power cord plugged in, the FPS shot right up, and vice versa.
I wasn't aware of SpeedStep until today, but after reading about it and toying with the settings myself, I'm realizing that changing the power settings in the control panel is doing nothing for this problem. I keep hearing that the BIOS SpeedStep settings override whatever you set in the control panel, so I went to change those, and I just can't find them. Under the advanced GPU settings, the only option my Midern Sager OS is giving me is for bluetooth.
So what's my move? Is the OS crippling my ability to change my SpeedStep settings, and if so, how can I get around it?

DTR is not intended to do gaming under battery.....
-
I didn't ask whether it was intended to do gaming on batteries, I asked how to make it do gaming under batteries...
It's just going to drain the battery faster. I'm not really worried about that.
EDIT: Just wanted to add, I didn't mean to sound rude, I just posted the topic to find out whether or not doing this was possible, and how I could do it if it was. If doing so is actually hazardous to the computer, or if it's impossible, never mind. Otherwise, I don't really care if doing so is "intended" or not. -

I'm really looking to just disable SpeedStep as opposed to using a third party program to change how things are running. No idea about that?

EIST and C1E are the functions for SpeedStep, and can both be unchecked in Throttlestop. Whether unchecking them actually works, I am not sure.
I tried setting multiplier to turbo with C1E and EIST off and then turning on Throttlestop and for some reason my clock would still fluctuate in the low 2000MHz range. I guess it doesn't work for the 3610qm. -
Hm, well I'll look into that then. Thank you.
I'm just hoping it actually works. From what I keep reading, whatever is set in the BIOS takes priority. I can't imagine that Throttlestop changes BIOS settings. -
It actually does in some cases.

Alright, good to know. I'll be sure to post my results when I get around to it.
