    P375SM-A / 36x.xx GeForce Drivers / Big issues with 4K @ 60hz via HDMI

I posted this in the P375SM-A owners lounge but felt a bit bad hijacking the thread so here is what my issue is:

Basically, my issue is that whenever I have any drivers installed that are 36x.xx and up, I get "Display driver NVIDIA Kernel Mode Driver, Version 36x.xx stopped and has successfully recovered" at least every 5 mins just browsing or gaming (kills game), when running in SLI. Running 1 card & 1080P seems to be OK but I didn't buy a 4K display just to run everything in 1080P

I must have spent 12 - 14 hours playing around with drivers for my Laptop and cannot install anything past 359.06 without constant crashing in 4K.

    Laptop Spec:
    Win 10 x64
    16GB RAM
    1 TB SSD + 750GB 7200rpm
    2 x GTX 970M in SLI
Prema BIOS and vBIOS v.2 installed

I've got the new DOOM game installed and bought a 4K 49" LG TV to play it on but sadly cannot play it reliably as the new drivers just crash the game in 4K and even 1080P but can get a little more time out of it in 1080P. The older, working drivers, don't work well with the new game.

I can get 40 - 50fps in DOOM with everything set to ultra when it's running in 4K before crashing, so the Laptop can handle the stress.

Been reading on the DP and wondered if it would make a difference buying a DP to HDMI adapter as it looks like the DP is v1.2 which can officially handle 4K @ 60hz.

Even though the HDMI on the P375SM-A is v1.4, I can display 4K @ 60hz on 359.06 without issue.

    Cheers in advance!

Yes, Nvidia let you use 4k on HDMI 1.4 but with reduced chroma (compressed colours), you say 1080p gives you more time but still has issues? I would contact your reseller, you may have a hardware issue.

I was thinking normally HDMI 1.4 was 30hz at 4K, and display ports was the way to get 60hz. You could try a DP to HDMI adapter and see if it helps.

As far as I know, that is the case. HDMI 2.0 is the spec that will run 4K @ 60 Hz.

@kizza91 - When reinstalling any of the drivers that did not work, did you opt for the "clean installation" option and opt out of GeForce Experience?

I did, also using DDU multiple times to make sure that it was a proper clean installation.

Latest drivers seem to be working okay with other games at the moment although getting "Driver failed / recovered" message at random but not so often. Maybe every hour or so which isn't bothering me too much. In game crashes don't appear to be happening, only on the desktop / browsing.

I've completely sacked off DOOM at the moment as it automatically placed me into dev-mode rendering my progress corrupted. Not playing it again until ID / Bethesda get their sh*t together.

Got a mini-DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 converter waiting at home so will test when I finish work and report back. Supposedly it can handle 4k @ 60hz.

As i stated Nvidia let you do 4k at 60hz with reduced chroma so you can see colour artifacts when doing that.

Granted - I'm just curious to see if this makes a difference as DP 1.2 oficially allows 4k @ 60hz :)

Well, the mini-DP doesn't work at all! Installed latest drivers from intel but every time I plug it in, the Laptop display goes blank and nothing comes onto the TV. Unplugging the mini-DP either crashes the Laptop or takes about 2 mins for the display to come back. Even caused it to go into recovery mode at one point. Not sure if I'm missing something or if the adapter is knackered. Shouldn't be though considering it was £30.

HDMI it is! Looks like I'll be returning the mini-DP to HDMI.

DP 1.2 does but the display port on this model goes through the thunderbolt chip.

Thought as much. Seems misleading of Clevo.

Yeah, but most manufacturer's don't really say how the ports are routed. They just say what ports they have. I know a lot of people ask about if something is routed through the Intel HD chip or not before it hits the video outputs.
